4/9/18 - Utah commit. Athletic bodied catcher at 6-foot-2 190-pounds, well-proportioned throughout, has put time into his legs, strong lower half and lean limber upper body. Catch/throws skills really stood out, in particular his willingness to pack pick and confidence in his arm. Blocked well on BIDs with two strikes, tossed a 1.97 warm-up toss and another 1.94 from his knees (74 mph), arm registered 76 mph but his quick release and aggressiveness allow the arm to play up. Sees when he might have an out on the bases. Gets in an athletic receiving position, has big strong hands, footwork is good and at this time is ahead of his receiving skills. Flexible body and good agility. Positive energy and talking for the position. Offensively saw some hip drift and some swing throughs but also saw him adjust later in the game and loft a deep fly ball down the right field line for a home run. Has plenty of bat speed but can work to stay behind the ball better.
