Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
6-0, 185 long, lean frame with some strength in the shoulders/chest. Tall and balanced at the plate with hands at back shoulder and high back elbow; slight foot lift for load keeping hands still and creating some stretch on stride. Hands stay inside the baseball with direct path showing ability to wear out the RCF gap and flashing times where he can create leverage to the pullside when allowing the barrel to turn with more upwards path (88 EV). Easy athleticism for CF and plays with calmness in OF; arm has some depth out of glove but is loose and can keep throws online to the bags (80 OF).
10/19/19
Scrimmage at Clayton Valley - Uncommitted; saw vs two D1 caliber pitchers, consistent with all previous viewings, middle/oppo approach that plays to extra base power, runs above average/fringe plus underway, clears front hip early and allows hands to work inside ball with ability to stay behind the ball and drive it to the oppo gap. Again don't see much give to the breaking ball and/or tendency to chase balls off the plate. Still surprising that he's uncommitted as he's got tools and usability beyond others who have been offered/committed.

Uncommitted Senior Games:
7.01 60yd, 81 OF Velo, 92 Exit Velo
Long frame with muscular upper body and twitchy speed in OF (7.01 60yd). Tall in the box with slight foot lift on load keeping hands in the pocket; hands direct to the baseball creating stretch between the lower and upper half allowing strength to come out with upward path. Easy lift showed up in BP with works to the gap and showed some power to the pull side (92 EV); lift showed up in game with a deep flyout to CF. Arm has length out of the glove to high release showing scap load; throws keep it on the bag but can improve overall strength (81 OF MPH). Used his speed in games moving around easy and being able to cover ground.

NCA Top Prospect ID - Long and athletic frame with squared shoulders and current lean muscle; very projectable build with plus current speed that he gets to easily (6.75 60 yd). Balanced stance with lower hands and flared back elbow; simple and quiet swing with quick foot lift as hands have slight sway back before firing. Swing creates lots of separation between lower and upper half creating snap swing from fast hands as barrel works slightly upwards through the zone; whip in the barrel when the top hand takes over and showed the ability to drive the ball into the pullside of the field. Flashed power to the pull side as well with easy carry and HR power now (90 EV). Easy first step from the OF with reactions to respond to bounce of the baseball and controlled feet; high front shoulder with length down out of the glove before high release. Accuracy in arm matched with quick feet makes CF a natural fit (80 MPH).

vs Analy HS - Uncommitted; Newman's best overall athlete and has the biggest tools on team. The run tool is a plus, the arm is above average and the range is above average. Showed good awareness of what he wants to hit in this one, spitting on close pitches and being short and compact to those of his liking. Let's the ball travel and drives the ball well to the right side with a bit of an inside out swing that does have some gap power. Defensively saw him range back to RCF fence and make a great grab on a ball that at the very least was ticketed to hit off the top of the fence.
2/28/19
vs Ukiah - Uncommitted; lean athletic body with streamlined build, athleticism plays for him within context of the game, swing works well-inside the ball, keeps barrel behind ball and almost appears to push the ball to oppo field/gap but it's the hands being extreme inside and staying long in zone, there is life in barrel at contact, also a plus runner, dropped deft drag bunt and went 3.80 down line, arm rates well and can cover lots of ground, centerfield skills and tools.
2/16/19
vs Marin Catholic - Uncommitted; lean and athletic build on 6--foot-0, 170-pound body, toolsy outfielder and has looked the part in previous viewings. He doubled to deep RCF today, stays inside ball through contact with an almost inside out type swing. He can let the ball get deep and even get seemingly beat by a fastball and still drive ball the opposite way. On occasion he gets out of that good approach and let's the front shoulder do too much and which takes away from what he does well, which is drive balls middle away. He runs very well, particularly underway as the video will illustrate. Lombardi is capable of playing 3B but the speed works best in the outfield.

Scrimmage vs Casa Grande HS - Athletically built, well-proportioned, lean body. Good looking player with tools that that project well. Slashing type swing with ability to drive the ball to opposite field, starts with balanced stance and has hand speed. Approach can improve in regard to hitting in certain counts and not getting too big in positive counts. Arm showed playable and future arm strength at three positions (RF, 3B, 1B). Moves well on the bases and was gaining speed rounding the bags on a triple to right. Easy runner, easy strides. Showed ability to make speed work in an impact manner as he reached 1st on a dropped third strike curveball, hustled and beat out the throw, then stole 2nd and stole 3rd in pitchers face which caused an overthrow and a free trip home. Timing of running in the pitcher's face was good as he took P and 3B by surprise.
