The former Future Gamer and Yavapai commit has been a name to know in BC for a couple years now. Fernandes really stands out on the mound with his 6-foot-4, 195-pound frame. He has a quick arm and a steep approach angle which both create deception out of the hand. Working down in the zone allows him to create weak ground ball contact and swing & miss with a fastball in the 86-88 mph range. He has two breaking balls, both with unique profiles that he tunnels well out of the hand. He likes to attack hitters early and when filling the zone, there aren’t many who do it better than the Junior National Team and Langley Blaze product.

After a stand-out performance at the Canada Cup, Fernades continued to play well at the Western Canada ProCase. On the mound, he comfortably sat in the 83-84 mph range and mixed his secondary offerings well during the live-game action. His curveball and slider both profile differently and his short, quick arm creates deception out of the hand. Working down in the zone allows Fernandes to utilize his steep approach angle creating lots of ground balls and swing & miss. At the dish, he added a couple base hits showing his two-way potential. The Canadian Junior National Team member is getting hot at the right time and will look to continue doing so going forward.

Canada Cup may have been the best our staff has ever seen from uncommitted ‘24 RHP Owen Fernandes. The fastball was a couple ticks higher than we’re used to as it sat 86-88mph and he sat down the first 12 batters he faced in his start against Saskatchewan, also striking out the first inning in order. Worked with a pair of breaking balls with two different movement patterns and had feel for both. Attacked hitters from start to finish as he went the distance, allowing just one run (0 ER) on four hits, two walks and seven strikeouts. One of the top uncommitted arms in the country and looks to be elevating his game at the right time.

At 6-4, 175-pounds, Fernandes is one of the. more intruiguing two-way players on the West Coast. A product of the Langley Blaze, there's jump in the bat. Hands work in the infield, projects more. as a corner infeidler. Could shine a bit on the mound as well. Looks the part on the mound . FB that lives 83-86. Spins the CB well w/ more horizontal movement. Showed feel for several pitches. Interesting two-way talent.
