6/27/18 - 6-foot, 155-pound frame. Significant room to add size and strength. Nickelson hit from a tall, open stance from the right side. Creates some separation. Bars the front arm. Attack angle varied but showed a nice flat path through the zone that produced line drive contact at times. Flashes of bat speed; 81 mph exit velocity. Defensively Nickelson worked out of the infield, profiling best at third or second. Solid hands and footwork, whippy arm action, low ¾ release, comfortable throwing from varying angles; 85 mph infield velocity. Has also worked out in the outfield previously. Also ran a 7.09 60-yard dash. Possesses multiple college-level tools.
1/28/18 - Shows surprising strength in current 6-foot, 155-pound frame. Nickelson has previously listed himself as a primary SS, but after being asked to work out at 3B and in the OF it is clear those are his best positions at the next level. The fast twitch athlete posted a 6.84 60-yard dash and 91 mph exit velocity while showing plenty of arm strength to play anywhere on the diamond. Nickelson stood out in the game, making hard contact and a highlight reel diving catch in RF.
12/27/17 - Athletic 6-foot, 155-pound frame. Intriguing prospects shows combination of bat speed, arm strength and all-around fast twitch ability. May profile best in the outfield at the next level. 7.01 60-yard dash shows he’s the type of athlete that will offer positional versatility moving forward. Shows present bat speed and projects for at least gap power as he gets stronger. Bat path can get steep at times and back side doesn’t always get through the baseball. Tools to hit with improved mechanics. Feet and arm work well on the infield, shows whippy arm action and the ability to throw from multiple angles; 82 mph infield velocity. Hands may project best to 3B or the outfield.
10/29/17 – Lean, athletic 6-foot, 155-pound frame with plenty room to add strength. Nickelson turned in some of the better testing numbers at the event, posting an 82 mph infield velo, 7.08 60-yard dash and 88 mph exit velo. Offensively, despite some crudeness, his combination of bat speed and hand eye produced some hard line drive contact and makes him an intriguing prospect. On the infield he slings the ball from a low, almost sidearm slot that tends to give his throws across the diamond some sinking action. Tool set could also profile in the outfield.
