8/4/18 - Didn't find the barrel in game action, but put on a show in BP that caught nearly everyone's attention. Erickson shows real raw power and has generally shown a knack for hitting in live action. A recent catching covert, Erickson was somewhat inconsistent as a receiver on the week, but gunned down four runners on the week and has clearly found his defensive home if he can continue to develop as a blocker/receiver.
6/5/18 - 5-foot-10 195-pound frame. Broad shoulders, sturdy frame. Erickson continues to impress at the plate showcasing raw power and the ability to make consistent hard contact. Posted a 90 mph exit velocity. Toe tap and barrel tip timing mechanism. Creates considerable separation by keeping his hands back and loaded as hips begin to fire. Advanced synchronization, timing, and rhythm throughout the swing. Listed as a C/3B, Erickson only worked out behind the plate in this look, where he profiles best. Pop times ranged from 2.00 - 2.07 with 75 mph arm strength. Erickson’s bat and continued progress behind the plate make him a very intriguing prospect. 7.77 60 yard dash.
1/28/18 - Stocky 5-foot-10, 190-pound frame. On this day it became even more clear that Erickson’s future is at the catcher position. With improved footwork and transfer behind the plate, he was able to post a 1.99 best pop time, despite some arm soreness and significantly less velo (73 vs. 78 mph) than we saw previously. Erickson projects for at least average raw power as the ball flies of hiss barrel and shows an impressive ability to be on time in game action. Posted 88 mph exit velocity. Improving on 7.71 60-yard dash will only further elevate his status as a D1 caliber prospect.
12/16/17 - Came in to the event as PBR’s 7th-rated Arizona prospect in the 2020 class and did not disappoint. With a stocky 5-foot-10, 170-pound frame Erickson has been evaluated mostly as a third baseman where his hands and arm work well, posting 84 mph infield velocity. One look at his frame and physical tools make you wonder what he could do behind the plate and on this day he hopped behind the plate and looked right at home. With some softness in his hands and great carry on his throws, the fit was natural, producing 1.89-1.96 pop times with 78 mph velocity. There is very little question this is his best long-term position based on his physical and athletic profile. Erickson’s bat has never been a question as he shows impressive present strength and the ability to be on time with the fastball, starting his leg-kick very early. Looking to lift and pull, he hit a number of long homers in his BP round with wood and posted a 91 mph exit velocity. With continued development at the position, Erickson’s potential move behind the plate makes him a much higher level prospect than he would have been as a 3B and will be exciting to follow moving forward.
