The high academic student-athlete, Fratantoni continues to improve his numbers in a showcase setting. He hits from a slightly open stance and has good rhythm throughout his smooth swing. Barrel works into the zone early giving him a large margin of time. As he continues to get stronger, his bat will be his best tool. Uses a pro step to get in line on his throws from the outfield at 78 MPH. Ran a 7.24 60
1/27/19- 5’9 150-pound frame. Shows a lot of rhythm at the plate with good feel for the left handed swing. Makes mid swing adjustments to stay balanced and on the barrel during his swing. Lower half works well and stays athletic throughout to make adjustments possible. Middle approach will start to drive balls deep in gaps as strength continues to develop. Has long arm swing which may keep him in the outfield but showed accuracy at 75 MPH from right. Isn’t as smooth in the infield but is athletic enough to be there.
6/5/18 - Lean 5-foot-8, 140-pound frame. Fratantoni recorded improved numbers across the board since we last saw him in January. At the plate he squats some into a balanced set up from the left side. Internally rotates front foot keeping hips counter rotated into stride foot contact. Hands work back and up before descending down again. Impressive, efficient bat path into the zone; 80 mph exit velocity. Defensively Fratantoni worked out as both an outfielder and an infielder. Profiles better as an outfielder due to long arm action as he fully extends his arm behind his back during arm swing. Moved confidently and aggressively in the outfield using proper footwork into his throws; 77 mph outfield velocity. Also posted a solid 7.25 60-yard dash.
1/7/18 - 5-foot-8, 140-pound frame. Worked out in the infield and outfield; hands and long arm action profile much better in the outfield where he moved comfortably and made accurate throws with 74 mph velocity. Offensively picks up his foot and puts it back down without gaining ground. Sets up with high hands, loading them even higher but does a solid job getting on plane through the zone to a two-handed finish. Made line drive contact during his round of BP; 76 mph exit velocity. Also posted 7.52 60-yard dash.
