Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
6-foot-1 185-pounds, large balanced frame, some strength & durability to build off, good athleticism for first basemen. Hustle and baseball IQ stood out. Good speed for his position, running a 6.83 60-yard dash. Left-handed hitter, starts in a narrow base with bent knees, open stance. Uses a small leg kick to transfer energy to front leg, landing square. Middle of the field approach, getting started late at times hitting the ball down the LF line. Elite bat speed for a high schooler, showing projectable power. 88mph exit velocity off a tee. Barreled up two balls hard to CF in live game action. One being a LD triple that was smoked over the CF’s head on a SL. Showed some athleticism and quickness while working out at 3B. Sure hands, fielding the ball a tad deep at times. Arm with 78mph arm strength will probably move him over to 1B in future where he shows good athleticism around the bag. His athleticism and projectable left-handed bat make for a strong follow.
1/7/18 - 5-foot-9, 141-pound frame. Sat 71-73 mph with his fastball using a long arm action with some head violence at release. Threw two different breaking balls in 56-60 mph range that both showed as more of a curveball with varying shape. Also threw developing 55-58 mph changeup. Hits from wide base with vertical barrel and no stride approach. Barrel tended to be in and out of zone quickly; would benefit from deeper hand load and better extension through the zone. 72 mph exit velocity. Worked out on the infield and outfield, posting 70 and 74 mph positional velocities respectively. Feet work well through the ball on the infield where he shortened the arm action slightly. 7.76 60-yard dash.
