10/14/18 - 5-foot-10,155-pound frame. Continues to show well at multiple positions. Profiles best behind the plate, and that allows the bat to play as well. As a left-handed hitter, Olson uses a longer stride, getting in the slot early. Shows present power to the pull side gap. Behind the plate, developing footwork, and longer arm action show room to continue to lower 2.04-2.15 pop times. Ran 7.59 60-yard dash on this look, but has shown significantly better in the past. On the mound, a fastball that sits 76-79, T80. Showed tendency to leave fastball out to the arm side. A tight-spinning curveball (65-66 mph) was his best secondary ofering. Also flashes a straight changeup at 70-71 mph.
5/20/18 - 5-foot-10, 155-pound frame. Shows the ability to be a contributor at a number of positions. He has significantly lowered his 60 time, down to a 7.19 and receives and throws well behind the plate, posting a best pop time of 2.02 with 72 mph velocity. Shows solid flexibility when receiving and good footwork on throws to second. Also moves well in the outfield and made accurate 79 mph throws, but has highest ceiling behind the plate. Shows advanced mechanics in the box, keeping the barrel in the zone for a long time with an easy rhythm and solid lower half with advanced adjustability. Posted impressive 86 mph exit velo for current level of physical development. Olson also ran his fastball up to 80 mph on the mound with a clean arm action from a ¾ slot. Showed some pitchability and feel, with a tight 11-5 curveball in the zone at 63-65 mph. 66-68 mph changeup tended to miss up to arm side and needs to be thrown with FB arm speed.
11/12/17 – 5-foot-10, 145-pound frame with high waist. Two-way prospect shows good skills as pitcher and catcher. On the mound sat 74-75, T76 working exclusively from the stretch using a high ¾ arm slot, short stride and low effort delivery. 65-57 mph changeup with late fading action is most advanced secondary pitch. Also mixed in developing 62-64 mph breaking ball that he tending to leave up in the zone. Defensively showed good, quiet receiving ability behind the plate and turned in a best pop time of 2.2 with 69 mph velocity. The LHH uses a toe-tap trigger and does an excellent job getting on plane with the pitch, generating consistent hard contact during his round. 7.38 60-yard dash.
