FIVE 2020 SPRING/SUMMER BREAKOUTS:
Luke Bass 1B / 3B / Chandler, AZ / 20206-foot-2, 220-pound frame. Strong, physical build. Swings from a balanced, upright stance. Barrel takes an efficient path into the zone. Posture begins to lean backwards near moment of contact followed by a high one handed finish, resulting in an uphill swing. Top hand comes off very early. Intriguing combination of present strength and bat speed. 83 mph exit velocity. Profiles well at first base. Possesses the athleticism to move quickly in and off the bag. 73 mph position velocity. Impressive 7.32 60-yard dash for size.
Ryan Bolden LHP / Arcadia, AZ / 20206-foot-4, 165-pound frame. Highly projectable body with long limbs. Throws from a low ¾ slot with a long, loose arm action. Made good use of his lower half, especially considering his frame. At times can get stuck over his front side after ball release cutting off torso rotation and deceleration path. Fastball ranged from 79-81 mph with arm side life. Flashed a change up that showed potential. Slider was thrown at 68-72 mph with inconsistent shape. Could make substantial strides in the coming years with added strength and mass. Consistency within the delivery and the development of the secondary should make Bolden a very interesting prospect.

Garrett Olson C / RHP / Mountain Ridge, AZ / 20205-foot-10, 155-pound frame. Shows the ability to be a contributor at a number of positions. He has significantly lowered his 60 time, down to a 7.19 and receives and throws well behind the plate, posting a best pop time of 2.02 with 72 mph velocity. Shows solid flexibility when receiving and good footwork on throws to second. Also moves well in the outfield and made accurate 79 mph throws, but has highest ceiling behind the plate. Shows advanced mechanics in the box, keeping the barrel in the zone for a long time with an easy rhythm and solid lower half with advanced adjustability. Posted impressive 86 mph exit velo for current level of physical development. Olson also ran his fastball up to 80 mph on the mound with a clean arm action from a ¾ slot. Showed some pitchability and feel, with a tight 11-5 curveball in the zone at 63-65 mph. 66-68 mph changeup tended to miss up to arm side and needs to be thrown with FB arm speed.
Christian Rodriguez C / 1B / Catalina Foothills, AZ / 20205-foot-11, 150-pound frame. Rodriguez showed impressive arm strength from behind the plate (77 mph) in our first extended look at him. Pop times ranged from 2.00 - 2.08. Gains substantial ground towards second on his throws. Quick, clean arm action. Intriguing skill set behind the plate. His left handed swing also has a chance as he shows a solid rhythm and just needs to add significant strength to his frame. Front leg could stabilize better. Linear bath path through the zone with a somewhat narrow base; 74 mph exit velocity not indicative of offensive ability. Also posted a 7.57 60 yard dash.
Tanner Spallina C / OF / Verrado, AZ / 20205-foot-11 174-pound frame shows present strength. Spallina is a no-doubt DI prospect as a defender behind the plate, posting a best pop time of 1.95 with 75 mph velocity from the crouch. In addition to his throwing ability, Spallina also excels as a receiver and blocks well. The offense is a little further away, but he shows enough strength (89 mph exit velocity) to be a contributor on both sides of the ball. Offensive development will dictate what level prospect he becomes. Also posted a 7.58 60 yard dash.
