2023 3B Drew Douglas (Basha)- 6-foot, 165-pounds, large projectable frame, wiry athletic body, plenty of room to gain more strength, some athleticism. Left-handed hitter, advanced approach with clean repeatable actions. Squared upright base, neutral weight distribution, small knee turn pick up with short stride. Slight load of the back elbow, moderately steep into the zone. Short simple swing, middle approach, balanced finish, plus feel for the barrel that he showed in game. Mostly line drive contact, 84.68mph exit velocity via trackman, pop should improve with added strength & transfer of energy. Versatile defender who has ability to play all INF spots & OF. Worked out at 3B but could see time at SS in spring. Slight pre-pitch step hop, relaxed first step. Fields the ball out in front with rounded back, some stiffness. Soft quiet hands, brings the ball to center of the body. Accuracy to the bag with some quickness to release, developing arm strength at 76mph. LH bat with some feel to hit & versatility should make him a follow.
6/16/20
6-foot 160-pounds, athletic frame with long torso, some present strength, projectable. Simple, repeatable left-handed swing, hitting from a spread out base, using a small leg lift with good body control. Middle LD approach, showing consistent feel for the barrel with vertical entry into the zone. Hit a ball at 93.6mph with 23 degree launch angle at 340ft in live BP. Approaches the ball low with usable hands. His speed and quickness might keep him at 3B going forward if his arm gets stronger over time. He has the athleticism to play corner OF where he played most of his HS season. Wouldn't be surprised to see him stick in the corner OF in the future as well. Left-handed swing should be followed closely.
