6-foot-4 175-pounds, Thin body, high waisted with long limbs, projectability. Good athleticism to build off and room to hold more weight and strength. Easy athletic delivery. Throws with long arm action from a H ¾ arm slot. Little extension towards the plate, pronating early. Lands on toe with upright chest angling towards 1B side. FB sat 80-82mph. Mixes in a CV showing 11/5 shape with late break at 67-68mph, getting around the baseball at times. Didn’t throw the change-up much on the day but was clocked at 74-76mph in warm-ups. Pitchers body who continues to bounce from injury last year. Progress on the mound should be followed. Has the athleticism to make a jump.

Large 6’4” 175lbs build, high waisted with good projectability. Athleticism to build off- ran a 7.03 60 yard dash. Calm collective approach to pitching. Bouncing back from an injury, Walters showed long loose arm action with low effort at 81-84mph. Off-speed was average and should improve with more time this spring. Hits from a balanced athletic set up. Short stride with hands loading slightly up and back simultaneously creating some leverage. Displayed some hard contact at 88mph. Good OF instincts. Good direction and carry on throws. Speed & athleticism give him the ability to move efficiently to the baseball. Watch for Walters to make a jump into the spring/summer as he gets comfortable on the mound, has the athleticism to make positive adjustments.

8/2/18 - Walters continues to be one that's easy to dream on with his 6-foot-3+, 165-pound frame and extremely high waist. He touched 85 mph in this outing and is a much better present athlete than you would think from looking at the body. Walters also threw two secondary pitches in the zone and is likely to throw very hard at some point in the future. Elite-level student.

RHP Augie Walters has been on our radar since last fall and continues to climb with his athletic 6-foot-4, 170-pound projectable frame and the type of effortless arm speed that could make him a very high velo day down the road. On this day he did nothing to hurt that status, running his fastball up to 85 mph. Curveball worked 61-62 mph with gradual 11/5 break. Could be thrown with more arm speed, presently more of a get me over pitch. Change up showed some fade at 70-74. Also worked out as a position player. Posted an 83 mph exit velocity, 80 mph outfield velocity, and ran a 7.24 60-yard dash.

Walters, just a freshman, is very much still maturing into his long-limbed, 6-foot-3, 165-pound frame, but exhibits the athleticism necessary to continue making advancements moving forward. The right-handed pitcher ran a 7.09 60-yard dash at the PBR Arizona Preseason All-State event, and touched 83 mph high atop the bump. He is still raw with regards to his mechanics, but the quick hand speed that he possesses out front should allow him to make major jumps in velocity in the future as he gets stronger and fills out. Releasing out of a high ¾ slot, Walters is still learning how to utilize his lower-half, but currently has the athleticism to make up for it in throwing strikes with his fastball with some arm side life. His breaking ball is more of a developing pitch at 67-68, and he shows better feel for a changeup at 74-79. He has a long, loose arm swing is continuously moving which should allow him to repeat easier. Overall, Walters is far from polished, but with his raw athletic and quick hand speed, he could make a big jump in the near future as he matures and gets stronger.

High-waisted 6-foot-3, 155-pound frame with very long limbs; tons of projection in body. Very good athlete for current strength level, running a 7.25 60-yard dash. Established himself as one of the elite prospects in Arizona’s 2021 class. Big-time follow as he grows into his frame. Ceiling is highest on the mound, where he worked exclusively from the stretch with a short stride and some explosiveness in his lower half. Threw 79-81 mph fastballs downhill with some sink, topping at 82. Long, loose arm action with very little effort. Flashed a solid changeup at 69-72 with good arm speed and also showed a developing breaking pitch at 67-78. Offensively, showed some hitting ability that will continue to improve with strength. Gets foot down early without a ton of rhythm in his setup/swing. Made mostly solid line drive contact; 80 mph exit velocity. Shows easy outfield actions with good footwork and solid carry on throw from high ¾ slot. 78 mph outfield velocity.
