2023 SS AJ Keely (Horizon)- 5-foot-9, 142-pounds, young balanced frame, has started to mature a bit with more left. Worked out as a two-way player. Sets up in an athletic relaxed base with open stance, uses a leg kick to create some energy, lands mostly square. Loads hands back with early front elbow extension. Flat swing with developing bat speed that should come with added strength. Made contact with top half off the ball creating top spin at times, mostly line drive & fly balls. Uses a pre-pitch hop in the infield. Fields the ball with fingers down with throwing hand on side of the glove, rounded back. Decent job fielding through the ball, stopping feet briefly on occasion. Short arm, average accuracy, arm strength improving with maturity at 78mph. Also worked out on the mound. Works from the 3rd base side of the rubber with athletic delivery, heel makes contact with ground first with exaggerated low finish. Threw from average arm slot with short action, dropped the release point on offspeed pitches. FB showed run at 75-77, topping out at 78.40mph via trackman with above average spin in relation to the velocity. CH was thrown mostly down & glove side at 67-70mph. CV had gradual break at 59-63mph.
