Entered the game on Sunday with the Gamecocks trailing 3-1 in the 6th inning. The righthander missed most of the 2022 season due to Tommy John and entered 2023 less than one year removed from the surgery. Against Arkansas the righthander filled the zone with his trademark sinker up to 94 mph and complemented it with three usable off speed pitches, including a mid-80s changeup that showed huge dive at times to his armside. He also mixed in a 78-80 curveball and 82-83 slider. For the season Hicks is 6-1 with a 3.94 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 48 innings. After being selected in the 15th round last summer by the Orioles, expect Hicks to receive top 10 round consideration this July.
