A bit of a throwback type player that is athletic in the OF. Seems to just glide to the ball as he approaches it in the OF. Nice arm action and very quick transfer from this athletic OF/LHP. Even start with the feet with a bit of a leg kick approach that allows the weight to work form back to the front. The swing is simple and the barrel really stayed on the ball through the hitting zone. Showed nice tilt in the swing and stayed exclusively in the middle of the field during BP. Had a loud 2B during the game. On the mound, the FB was up to 80 mph but he has the ability to mix all three of his pitches at any time and count. Really located all of his pitches with clean mechanics and showed the ability to “paint” both corners of the plate with the FB. The breaking ball showed some late depth with tight spin. This guy is just a competitor.
1.20.19- extremely athletic player (also QB on football team) that continues to impress each time we see. In the OF he has advanced tools and shows off nice footwork and a nice arm slot which creates very accurate throws with no “tail” to the throws. Really finds the barrel in BP with a very simple, quiet approach and showed some pop both ways. Nice athletic load. On the mound, he continues to show a nice feel for how to pitch and command of three pitches. His FB was up to 79 but the movement is plus. The breaking ball shows plus shape with tight spin. Really attacks the zone. Ultra competitive.
11.11.18 A LHP that just attacks the zone. A very good athlete that just competes on the mound and lets his natural actions take over. Does a nice job getting the ball back creating his long arm action. Really pounds the zone and attacks hitters. Has a nice, smooth delivery and it appears to come “easy” for him. Really creates sink on his fastball, sitting 77-78 on the day, and topping at 79 mph, but there is more velocity there. His breaking ball is his “out” pitch which he commanded at 67-68 mph with tight spin, making it difficult for hitters to pick up.
11.11.18 Very nice actions in the OF that does a good job of working his feet before and after the ball is in the glove. Really gets his weight moving with the throw and has a very strong arm (80 mph OF) that is extremely accurate. Is really athletic and has nice speed. Offensively, his approach is legit starting with a slightly closed stance and a definite middle of the field approach. Does a nice job of staying short and keeping the barrel through the hitting zone. Showed nice juice to all fields from an even swing plane. A very athletic player.
9.23.18- really repeated solid mechanics on the mound with typical LHP ASR at 76-78 mph while showing feel for his breaking ball at 70 mph with multi-tier break and tight spin. Good runner as well (4.28 down the line) that showed trackability in the OF on fly balls and good arm action (82 mph OF velo) and very accurate one hops to the plate. At the plate, he showed an exclusive opposite field approach but also showed some quickness to the hands. Really showed well on the day and will be an interesting follow.
