6.93
Infield Velocity
The athlete's maximum throwing velocity from an infield position in the given event year. Measured in miles per hour (MPH).
84.0
Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Curveball
Hammer+
A hammer breaking ball drops vertically with velocity through the zone, or 12-to-6 movement. Hammer+ of 100 is MLB average.
Curveball
Sweep+
A sweeping breaking ball moves horizontally with velocity through the zone. Sweep+ of 100 is MLB average.
The highest Edge Score within the given year. Edge Score is a comprehensive score that takes the core-six visual skills into account, providing an assessment of an athlete’s overall visual ability.
The maximum speed, in the direction of home plate, that the wrist is traveling. Measured in meters per second (m/s)
Knee Extension Velo
The angular velocity of the front knee straightening after foot plant, which provides indicators of velocity potential. Measured in degrees per second.
Deception
The amount of time that the ball is visible to the hitter, after the instant of front foot strike. Measures in milliseconds.
Hip-Shoulder Separation
The difference in angle of between the hips and shoulders, occurring close to the foot plant. Measured in degrees.
6-foot-3, 165-pound projectable frame. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 90 mph. Started in a balanced athletic stance with a controlled load, then used a small leg kick. Bat speed is efficient and has a rotational swing plane. Found lots of barrels with some loud contacts. Line drive approach. Above average while in the infield, made throws up to 79 mph; had smooth footwork. Out front fielding mechanics. Decent accuracy to the bag, used a high ¾ slot and a quick arm action. Performed well in the 60-yard dash, clocking a speedy time of 6.93. Norton showed nice, easy actions on the mound. The breaking ball (76-77 mph) was a power breaking ball that he showed the same slot as he did with the fastball. The fastball showed life at 85-87 mph, T88 mph with sink. The makings of a 90 + arm in the near future.
1/17/21
6-foot-2, 165-pound athletic frame. The athletic recruit showcased his speed with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.98. Started in a balanced stance with a smooth load, then used a controlled stride. Bat speed was explosive, showed short simple swing plane and good extension on his finish. Had a lot of loud contact during the round. Gap to gap approach. Advanced in the box, Norton had a max exit velocity of 88 mph. In the infield, recorded a position velocity of 84 mph; had a clean exchange, consistent footwork, and sure hands. Glovework is shown out front Consistent accuracy to the bases, used a high ¾ slot with a loose arm action. Above average on the mound, showed above average arm speed with a consistent arm action and a high ¾ arm angle. Feel type pitcher who shows easy effort. Showed consistent balance point. Threw his fastball 83-84 mph with a max of 85 mph; has tailing action and command around the zone. Throws a 11/5 curveball (74-77) with late action and consistent control. His changeup (78-80) had arm side command and fading action. Norton has tremendous potential both on the mound and as a position player.
