Updated & Expanded 2023 Alabama Rankings
September 1, 2021
With the summer of 2021 coming to a close, the PBR Alabama Staff has wrapped up the circuit by going back to updated & expand the 2023 Player Rankings for the state of Alabama. We've been following this class very closely over the past few years, whether it be out covering high school games in the spring or seeing hundreds of players at showcases throughout the year. Either way, this class is as deep as they come with high profile arms and impact bats scattered throughout this list. Some players who we've been following for three years have continued to progress and improve, while others made significant statements this summer.
It's going to be interesting to see where all of these players end up, as many of them are still uncommitted heading into their junior seasons of high school baseball. Let's take a look at how this class stacks up after the summer of 2021.
The Trio at The Top
Starting off at the top of this list, there are three names that have seemed to continue to separate themselves from the rest of the pack heading into their junior year of high school. RHP/3B Walter Ford (McAdory, 2023) is a special talent in his own regard, possessing a fastball that can get up into the mid-90's regularly and has one of the best breaking balls in the class in his back pocket. Being used as a dominant back-end guy this past spring, the Alabama recruit will be looked on to produce at the plate as well, in addition to his efforts on the mound at a new school. He's posted multiple 100 mph+ exit velocities at previous PBR events and has sizable power in the right side of the box. Safe to say, Ford is a name that most people have circled moving forward for the 2023 MLB Draft in a couple of years, but it'll be fun to follow him for the rest of his high school career to see how much he can still improve.
