6-foot-1, 175-pound athletic frame. During batting practice, Hutto displayed an exit velocity of 92 mph, showing his strength and power ability. Starts in an athletic stance. Has simple swing plane, quick bat speed and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels with some loud contact. Pull side approach. Showed his live arm in the infield with position velocities up to 88 mph; showed a clean exchange, soft hands and athletic feet. Had consistent accuracy to the bag and a very quick arm action. Established speed as one of his strengths with an efficient 60 time of 6.6. Confident on the mound, has quick arm speed and throws from a high ¾ arm angle. Uses some effort in his delivery. a clean finish. Threw his fastball 84-85 mph with a max of 86 mph; showed running action with heavy movement. Had control low in the zone and swing and miss action on his 12/6 curveball (69-70). Hutto has really exploded of late as evidenced by the numbers he posted at the event. Shouldn't be uncommitted too much longer
6/12/19
Very impressive of the day running a sub 7.0 (6.91) 60 with plenty of arm strength (81 mph) across the diamond. The glove works and the feet showed plenty well in the dirt. Showed nice lateral range and played low to the ground. Slightly open stance at the plate and does a nice job keeping their hands and barrel and inside the ball with a constant middle of the field approach. Did a nice job staying through the hitting zone with a very balanced swing.
Colby Hutto (2021 2B/RHP, West Morgan HS) 6’0 135 lbs- was impressive both on the mound and at the plate. Possesses a short, compact swing that stays through the zone for a long time. His exit velo was 78 mph. Handles the bat very well and used all fields in his BP round. An above average runner with a 7.17 60 yard dash. Quick exchange in the IF to go along with an IF velo of 75 mph. On the mound, he was 74-76 and topped at 77 a few times. Curveball was 59-62 with some 12-6 action to it. His changeup was 61-63 and had some fade to it at times. Good mechanics.
