By Dan Williams
Western Pennsylvania / West Virginia Director of Scouting

The Western PA Fall Scout Day to be held Sunday, October 8th at Robertson Field on the campus of Allegheny College will bring together some of the best uncommitted seniors from Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Although not exclusive to the Class of 2018, this event provides a tremendous opportunity for remaining uncommitted seniors to perform in front of multiple programs still looking to complete their 2018 recruiting class. We will preview the ranked players from Pennsylvania and West Virginia on the roster in two segments.

ranked Uncommitted Senior prospects on the roster

Cameron Pine

Cameron Pine, WV # 12
C/ OF / Washington,wv / 2018

6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed hitter and thrower demonstrated athletic actions and advanced defensive skills at recent PBR event. Quick feet, solid transfer and 74 mph arm out of the crouch played to 2.00 pop time. Pine is an above average runner for the position recording a 7.13 sixty time. His bat exit velocity of 89 mph projects well in regards to continued power development at next level. While Pine is certainly capable of being a very good defender behind the plate ,his overall skill set allows for considerable versatility at collegiate level.

Brett Morris

brett morris, wv#26
SS/RHP/ winfield,wv / 2018

6-foot-4, 200-pound right-handed hitter with long angular frame.  Morris initiates swing from a narrow base with short stride to neutral. He has quick, loose hands. Swing is short with direct path to baseball and good balance. Morris has shown ability to use whole field in BP spraying line drives gap to gap.  He recorded a bat exit velocity of 88 mph and ran 7.00 sixty.  He may benefit from widening out slightly and incorporating longer stride to achieve greater separation.

Defensively, shows ability to create good angles and hops. Demonstrates good range, soft hands and a clean, quick transfer/throwing motion. Consistent with height there is some tendency to play upright. Overall Morris' frame, athleticism and above average overall tools make him a very interesting uncommitted next level prospect with considerable positional flexibility.
