The Fall College Prospect Program will get under way on September 13 with a stop at Widener University in Philadelphia, PA. One week later on September 20 the program concludes with the Western PA Fall Review at La Roche College in Pittsburgh, PA. This program affords college prospects an opportunity to showcase their abilities in game action at one of two college campuses during the month of September.

2016  LHP/OF Jared Shawver (Logan)

Shawver sat 77-79 from a 3/4 arm slot during two innings of work on the mound at the recent WV Top Prospect Games. The 6-foot, 155-pound two-way prospect also showcased a 65 mph curveball with 1/7 rotation. Shawver ran a 7.59 60-yard dash and displayed an accurate 82 mph arm from the outfield. The left-handed hitter displayed a feel for the barrel out of a square stance with a bat exit velocity of 78 mph. Shawver showed a short swing path with a short stride to consistently barrel the baseball during his round of batting practice.

The uncommitted senior is coming of a junior season in which he went 3-0 with a 1.04 ERA on the hill. The lefty worked 33.2 innings, striking out 43 while allowing just nine walks. He held opposing hitters to an impressive .125 on base average. Shawver also contributed offensively by hitting .291 with 10 RBI and four doubles for the Wildcats.
