CLASS OF 2019
Brock Archer, OF, Wheeling Park HS (WV)
6-foot-1, 170-pound switch hitter showcased similar swings from both sides of the plate with an 80 mph bat exit velocity. He starts from a square stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Showed some barrel drag from both sides with a more solid feel for the barrel as a right-handed hitter. Ran a 7.37 60-yard dash and displayed straight line carry on throws of 80 mph from the outfield while consistently playing through the baseball.
Zachary Beckman, 3B/SS, Obama Academy (PA)
5-foot-9, 150-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a heel-raise stride. A short swing path and solid feel for the barrel led to consistent line drive during a solid round of batting practice. Would benefit from additional utilization of the lower half. Registered an 81 mph bat exit velocity and barreled a number of balls in game action. 74 mph arm strength and 7.85 60-yard dash will likely keep Beckman at 3B or 2B at the next level.
JT Montross, OF, North Allegheny HS (PA)
5-foot-10, 160-pound primary pitcher worked out solely as an outfielder on this date. Ran a 7.57 60-yard dash and showcased athletic actions defensively while consistently playing through the baseball with 74 mph arm strength to home plate. Right-handed hitter displayed a short swing path while routinely staying inside the baseball from a square stance. Utilizes a short, leg-hang stride to initiate his swing and barrel path is flat through the zone. Consistently barreled baseballs during a solid round of batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 78 mph.
Brandan Rea, C, Canon-McMillan HS (PA)
5-foot-9, 160-pound backstop displayed above average receiving and blocking skills during game action. Showcased quick feet and a clean exchange leading to pop times of 2.06-2.15 with 70 mph arm strength from the crouch. Right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Barreled the baseball consistently during batting practice and registered a 78 mph bat exit velocity while putting together several solid at bats during game action.
