Unsigned Senior Spotlight: MIF Fargo Camerlengo

By Greg Williams
WV Director of Scouting

Uncommitted seniors often begin to get a little uneasy at this point in the early fall. With the early signing period looming in November a general attitude of unrest tends to settle in if the right school has not come calling for them.

Over the coming weeks we will take a look at some unsigned seniors that showed next level ability during their participation in the recent WV Top Prospect Games.

MIF Fargo camerlengo (Brooke hs)

Fargo CamerlengoCamerlengo is a 6-foot-1, 160-pound MIF from Brooke HS. He was a 2nd Team All-State selection as a junior in 2015. The 6-foot-1, 160-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a short, lift-and-replace stride. The uncommitted senior displayed the ability to stay inside the baseball routinely with a bat exit velocity of 82 mph. Camerlengo showed a strong glove hand and the ability to play through the baseball defensively with an accurate 78 mph arm across the diamond. His 7.01 foot speed and solid range demonstrated in game action should enable him to remain on the left side of the infield at the next level.

Following the completion of the Fall College Prospect Program unsigned seniors will have an opportunity to stand out on a day set aside for them to display their talent in front of those schools that are still looking to fill their recruiting needs for the fall of 2016.

The 2015 Unsigned Senior Showcase will take place on October 3 at the Keystone State Baseball Academy in Manheim, PA. This event continues to grow in popularity and in its ability to help match available seniors with college programs that have needs. Over the past three years 37 of 57 prospects have gone on to make college commitments with several others attempting to walk on and make college rosters this fall.
