Three State Champions to be Crowned Today

Day two of the 2016 West Virginia state tournament a trio of impressive pitching performances and a dramatic 7th inning comeback that led to a walk-off win. Following is a brief recap of semifinal action from Friday.
Wheeling Central 10, pendleton County 9
Trailing 9-5 entering the bottom of the 7th inning Wheeling Central rallied for five runs culminated by a Brian Campbell double for the walk-off win. Pendleton County scored early and often aided by five Wheeling Central errors that contributed to leads of 7-1 and 9-3 as late as the 6th inning. A two-run bottom of the 6th set up the 7th inning rally that vaulted Wheeling Central into today's Class A title game.
wahama 3, Man 0
Wahama junior Philip Hoffman struck out nine in a complete game win a year ago in the state semifinals. On Friday the talented right-hander was even better striking out 18 in a complete game two-hit shutout to propel Wahama to its second title game in as many years.
Wahama will be one of three teams looking to repeat as state champions today (Bridgeport AA, Jefferson AAA).

Senior left-hander Bradley Davis spun a four-hit, complete game shutout to propel Jefferson to its second state title game in as many years. Austin Bullman (3 RBI), Paul Witt (3-4, 3B, 2 R) and Charlie Barnholt (3-4, 2B) led Jefferson's 13-hit attack.
The Cougars will be one of three teams looking to repeat as state champions today (Bridgeport AA, Wahama A).
Nitro 3, Ripley o
Senior right-hander Jacob Bradley tossed a complete game, four-hit shutout to lead Nitro to the win setting up a rematch in today's AAA title game. Nitro and Jefferson also squared off in the 2015 championship with Jefferson taking home the state title.
A two-run double by Jason Douglas plated the game's first runs in the top of the 6th inning and Douglas later scored on an error.
Christopher Jordan was the hard luck loser for Ripley after tossing scoreless innings before Nitro's 6th inning uprising.
