Region Preview: Class AAA - Region I

With the start of the high school season less than a month away we will be previewing each region in each classification statewide. In addition to a look at the top teams we will also highlight some of the top prospects in each region.

                 Class AAA - Region I

Preseason Favorite

Wheeling Park (24-6)

The Patriots return a lot from last year's 24-6 squad, but will have to replace Andrew Kowalo (1st Team All-State, Potomac State College) and Trevor Stewart (West Liberty University). The 1-2 punch of RHP Michael Grove and LHP Justice Jackson gives Wheeling Park a chance in nearly every game they will play.

 

In the Hunt

Parkersburg (15-16)

With the majority of their lineup that hit almost .320 as a team last year returning, Parkersburg is likely to be in the hunt provided they can find enough pitching. RHP/OF Logan Dudley, who hit .410 in 2013, will likely be counted on for additional innings on the mound.

 

Preseason Player of the Year

Jimmy GaluskyJimmy Galusky, SS, Preston HS (Class of 2014)

Galusky is a 6-foot-3, 170-pound SS from Preston HS. As a junior he hit .519 with seven home runs, 11 doubles, 31 RBI and had a school record 54 hits in 2013. Galusky was selected to the AAA All-State 1st Team for his production and is also a talented basketball player. The WVU commit has shown an 83 mph arm across the diamond and an 86 mph bat exit velocity at multiple PBR events.
