Preseason All-State Showcase Preview: OF Tristan Lucas

By Greg Williams
WV Director of Scouting

The Pennsylvania Preseason All-State Showcase will allow 178 talented prospects from three states to display their abilities over two days at the B2B Baseball Academy in Manheim, PA. Among those scheduled to participate, four hail from West Virginia.

Tristan LucasOF Tristan Lucas (University HS) will be among a group of 32 talented outfielders that will showcase their abilities on Day One of the event. Lucas, currently ranked No. 25 in his class, had a productive 2013 season hitting .351 as a sophomore with 15 runs scored, 15 RBI and a .405 on base percentage. The right-handed hitter made his first appearance in the WV Class of 2015 rankings following a strong showing at the Western PA College Prospect Showcase on January 12. The 6-foot, 165-pound prospect needs to refine some of his skills, but possesses a great deal of athleticism and promise.

Lucas will have an opportunity to compare himself to some of the top outfield prospects in Pennsylvania. PA's Class of 2015 has already seen 23 of the top 27 ranked prospects make Division I commitments. Frankie Jezioro (No. 30, Peters Township), Noah Malone (No. 36, Cedar Cliff) and Ryan Malloy (No. 49, Holy Ghost Prep) will highlight the group of 2015 outfielders in attendance. Jezioro is a switch-hitter that runs a 6.63 60-yard dash. Malone and Malloy were both members of the Team Pennsylvania roster at the 2013 Midwest Future Games.

The Pennsylvania Class of 2016 will also be well represented. Mason Nadeau (North Penn) is ranked No. 10 in the class and was the starting left fielder for the Class 4A Knights in their run to a PIAA title in 2013. Braxton Giavedoni (Punxsutawney) is one spot back at No. 11 in the class. He is a 6.85 runner and hit .348 as a freshman.
