PBR Fall Showcase Player Spotlight: Luke Ellis

Josh Kuykendall
West Virginia Director of Scouting

This fall, we will be taking a closer look at each member of the PBR Fall Showcase Team, known as the Appalachian Aces. Today we highlight 2019 RHP Luke Ellis who is Uncommitted.

Kuykendall on Ellis: "Luke is starting to see all of his hard work pay off. He has a fastball in the mid-80's with run and a really good splitter to go with it. If he continues to bare down on throwing more strikes early in the count, he will be really tough to hit. I project him to be a front-end starter at the next level"

Scouting Report

7/5/18 6-foot-1 185-pound, right-hander works out of mid 3/4 arm slot showing ability to repeat low effort delivery. He strides closed creating crossfire action. Solid balance and rhythm are present. There is developing arm quickness with Fastball at 81-83 mph and being cut to both sides of the plate. Curveball sat 73-75 with with late, sharp break and moderate depth. Changeup at 78 mph is thrown with reasonable sell and subtle sink. Splitter at 73-74 flashed late, sharp glove side lateral movement. Ellis' overall presentation makes him an arm to follow in Class of 2020.
