Draft League Scouting: Grant Hussey
June 28, 2021
At 6-foot-3, 225 pounds, Hussey is a big, strong left-handed hitter with good balance and an advanced approach. He tracks the ball well and squares it up to generate explosive, triple-digit-exit contact. Hussey has the ability to drive the ball to all fields because he keeps his barrel in the hitting zone for a long time, controlling it well. He’s a young hitter whose power numbers will improve as he gains experience and learns how to tap into his raw pull-side power.

Hussey is a physical athlete who runs well and can track the ball in the outfield. He has average arm strength but makes accurate throws with good carry. He has the potential to be a solid defender on the outfield corners and hit in the middle of the order.
Hussey is a bat-first player, so opinions on him will be all over the place, but the natural hitting ability is there to project him as a productive corner outfielder at the Major League level -- the type of player who could be a steal for a team in Rounds 5-8 of the 2021 Draft.
