Wisconsin Uncommitted 2024s: Infielders & Outfielders
November 20, 2023
With the conclusion of our 2023 events now behind us and as the offseason rolls along, our staff thought it was time to shed some light on some best uncommitted prospects the Badger State has to offer. We will continue this series with the top uncommitted infielders and outfielders in the state’s senior class that, to our knowledge, have not announced their commitment yet.
Make sure to follow along as we will continue to highlight some of the top uncommitted prospects in Wisconsin’s 2024 and 2025 classes over the next handful of weeks.
The state’s top-ranked player in the 2024 class, MIF JD Dix (Whitefish Bay, 2024) and the No. 53 ranked player nationally headlines this talented crop of infielders. After decommitting earlier this year, Dix is certainly one of, if not the top uncommitted talent in the country.
INFIELDERS (LISTED ALPHABETICALLY)
Ty Cieslewicz INF / RHP / Menomonee Falls, WI / 2024
Rankings, PBR Wisconsin: No. 160
From 8/25/23 “...is an upside 6-foot, 163-pound infielder who enjoyed a stellar season for his Menomonee Falls squad and helped them to their third straight state tournament appearance. From the right-handed box, Cieslewicz swings a whippy bat that has impressed across multiple looks in the spring and into the summer.” |
Bryson Koehne 1B / OF / Notre Dame Academy , WI / 2024
Rankings, PBR Wisconsin: No. 204
From 2/25/23 “...has a physical appearance at a strong 6-foot, 205-pounds. In the box, Koehne works out of a wider base, slightly open setup and is aggressive towards the baseball with quick hands and an all-fields approach. Metrically, Koehne put together one of the best rounds of the day as he registered a max exit velocity of 98.9 mph and an average of 91.5 mph to all fields.” |
Joseph Rodriguez MIF / Westosha Central , WI / 2024
Rankings, PBR Wisconsin: No. 156
From 2/04/23 “...possesses a refined defensive skillset as he is easily able to move from side-to-side on the infield dirt and is able to make accurate throws from a number of different arm angles. Offensively, the lefty profiles as a top of the order type player with his ability to hit low liners to the entire field, and his hardest hit ball registered at 86 mph.” |
Mason Roell SS / 3B / West Bend East, WI / 2024
Rankings, PBR Wisconsin: No. 63
From 7/11/23 “...was one of the top producers for his high school team during the spring, earning him Third Team All-State honors and putting him on the radar as an uncommitted infielder, setting up for a quality summer. Roell stands at an athletic 6-foot-2, 175-pounds, and in our first look at the to-be senior since the winter, notable improvements were made. On the infield, from the shortstop position, Roell fired in throws with carry, maxing out at 85 mph. His twitch and quickness was translated on the offensive end as well, where the right-handed batter was able to backspin and drive the baseball with quick hands and ease. Roell’s pull-side usage was noteworthy, as he created leverage and elevated pitches during his swing, projecting as a quality hitter in the future. His work as a two-way prospect for West Bend East in the spring cannot be understated, as Roell continues to trend up in a loaded 2024 class in the Badger State.” |
Sam Reimann INF / Merrill , WI / 2024
Rankings, PBR Wisconsin: No. 193
From 7/18/23 “Standing at an athletic 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame, Reimann was amongst the top leaders in exit velocities from the plate, illustrating his gameplay actions from a couple of weeks ago. Reimann reached 95 mph from the plate, featuring a wide stance setup and twitchy hands, presenting bat speed and pull-side power. The right-handed hitter inserted himself as a middle-of-the-order bat for the future, displaying easy power with a smooth swing. Defensively, Reimann tied for the highest velocity across the infield, reaching 83 mph. Reimann was solid throughout the entire workout, reflecting his work over the spring and summer.” |
Sawyer Stein 1B / Eau Claire Memorial, WI / 2024
Rankings, PBR Wisconsin: No. 109
From 7/20/23 “...arguably had one of the better high school seasons in the northwest portion of the Badger State this past spring, as this was the first time our staff saw his offensive skill set in live action. The right-handed hitter impressed right away, tripling to the right-center gap to drive in a run for MN Blizzard Black. Because of his physical 6-foot-3, 215-pound frame, Stein naturally produces loud contact with ease, something his opponents consistently had to prepare for in these past couple of months. Stein’s stock continues to rise as a batter, as his showing on night one at The Rock was a noteworthy one.” |
Charlie Wahlen 3B / Dominican, WI / 2024
Rankings, PBR Wisconsin: No. 203
From 6/29/23 “Standing at a sturdy 6-foot-0, 190-frame, Wahlen used his present strength to find multiple barrels in the morning, finishing with a 3-for-3 line in a 12-5 win for Milwaukee Baseball Academy - Andresen. Wahlen sent multiple baseballs to the warning track and the wall, doubling and tripling once. Scored once and drove in two runs in the process, inserting himself as a follow for the rest of the tournament and summer.” |
OUTFIELDERS (LISTED ALPHABETICALLY)
Ryan Berghauer OF / Brookfield East, WI / 2024
Rankings, PBR Wisconsin: No. 76
From 8/25/23 “...stands at an athletic 6-foot-1, 183-pounds and is one of the top uncommitted outfielders in this class. Debuting inside the top-100 at No. 75 in this update after a strong high school and summer circuit. Most recently we saw Berghauer at the Milwaukee Top Prospect Games where he was able to showcase all of his tools. At the plate, the right-handed-hitter impressed with a loose swing and natural feel for the barrel, collecting multiple hits during gameplay. Defensively, the outfielder played a confident outfield with athletic actions and a strong arm up to 87 mph.” |
Scott Brown OF / 3B / Kettle Moraine, WI / 2024
Rankings, PBR Wisconsin: No. 37
From 8/24/23 “...Standing at an athletic 5-foot-11, 190-pounds the right-handed hitter has some of the more advanced barrel skills in the class. With quick hands Brown creates leverage and is able to drive the ball consistently to all fields, although he favors his pull side. Defensively, Brown is comfortable in the outfield and at third base, equally as impressive at both. In the outfield manning either corner, Brown plays with confidence and has enough arm strength to play both. At third Brown plays with soft hands and a quick trigger with an accurate arm across the infield.” |
Conner Des Lauries OF / Oconomowoc, WI / 2024
Rankings, PBR Wisconsin: No. 149
From 2/18/23 “...is listed at a projectable 6-foot, 165 pounds. He started the event with a solid 7.25 s 60 showing athletic gait and quick burst. During hitting, Des Lauries sprayed line drives from an easy loose swing registering a max exit velocity of 89 mph and a max distance of 301 feet.” |
Carter Gilhausen OF / INF / Onalaska, WI / 2024
Rankings, PBR Wisconsin: No. 104
From 7/21/23 “...is surely a follow prospect from this event, as he prepares to enter his senior year. He’s an athletic, lean, broad-shouldered 6-foot, 150-pound player with a loose, easy left-handed swing that showed some projection and promise – and he connected for a max EV of 90.9 mph, which is noteworthy considering his slight stature that can support a strength gain effectively. Gilhausen’s athleticism showed elsewhere, as a 6.89 runner with 20.2 mph top speed, and each led the event." |
Tanner Hraby OF / INF / Medford Area, WI / 2024
Rankings, PBR Wisconsin: No. 87
From 7/21/23 “...flashed the most power, launching the only home run out of Carson Park during the BP session, which traveled 355 feet, according to TrackMan. From an open stance, Hraby presented a quick barrel and strong hands, a combination that allowed him to spray line drives to all fields, a trait demonstrated a couple of weeks ago in live action and at the aforementioned showcase. The right-handed hitter continued to display his versatility on the defensive end, this time turning in a clean round of infield where he looked capable of playing shortstop at the next level. His smooth hands and natural movements, something we’ve seen in the outfield and on the mound, allowed Hraby to prove himself as a sure-handed defender, giving him multiple options with the glove heading into his senior season as a quality uncommitted prospect at Medford Area HS. His lean physique offers even greater upside, as he already impacts the baseball well in the batter’s box, but still has plenty of room to tack on usable strength that stands to enhance a quality existing batted-ball profile.” |
Carter Schmitt OF / West De Pere, WI / 2024
Rankings, PBR Wisconsin: No. 134
From 8/25/23 “...is an athletic 6-foot-1, 180-pound and after a solid showing at July’s Top Prospect Games, he debuts at No. 132 in this rankings update. During that event, Schmitt swung a controlled right-handed bat that reached EV highs of 90.7 mph while averaging 83.4 mph. Schmitt’s 7.13 speed is apparent in the outfield as well, as he is quick and athletic mover, pairing it with an arm that topped at 82 mph on his throws home. He is also a sure-handed defender behind the plate and has recorded pop-time lows of 2.21 in our looks, too.” |
Sam Vargas OF / 3B / Arrowhead, WI / 2024
Rankings, PBR Wisconsin: No. 101
Vargas stands at an athletic 6-foot-2, 190-pounds and he is an uncommitted name-to-know inside of the state’s 2024 class. At the plate, Vargas swings a quick and direct right-handed bat that produces line drives to all parts of the field. His hit tool was on display across a couple of looks during the spring season for his talented Arrowhead squad and it carried into the summer where he continued to find barrels, some of them coming off of high-end velocity. Defensively, Vargas’ 6.86 speed is apparent in the outfield, as he is a quick mover and pairs it with a strong arm that has the capacity to stick in the outfield in the future. |
