VA/DC Class of 2026 Rankings: New Faces

Here are five new faces that make their way into the 2026 class rankings. Where will these five land? Check back on Wednesday for the updated 2026 release.

Brody Comparto 2B / RHP / GREAT BRIDGE HIGH, VA / 2026

After one brief look last spring and a few viewings in tournaments this past summer and fall, Comparto makes his way into the rankings. The Great Bridge sophomore saw increased production to go along with his solid set of tools. Arm first profile right now, but plenty of time left to decide which way things will go. Athletic frame with some arm speed and feel to spin on the mound. 

 

 

Noah Hummel LHP / 1B / CAPE HENRY COLLEGIATE SCHOOL, VA / 2026

Some of our first quality looks of the physical Cape Henry sophomore came early this spring. Durable 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame. Low 80's LHP with feel for two offspeed pitches. The slider is firm, sitting in the mid 70's and leaves some thought that there is more velo there. Low three-quarter slot, lands closed, and tends to work around the ball just a bit. Has shown some ability to impact the game at the plate, but with the long term positional fit being first base, would need to see more in game power production to steer away from the arm first makeup. 

 

 

Alex John C / OF / Cox, VA / 2026

John held down the starting job behind the plate for the Cox Falcons for the majority of the year. Solid receiver, average arm strength, quick release, and showed some accuracy around the bag. More so than the defense, John continually put together some quality at bats in the middle of the Cox order. More contact, hit tool type of bat that produced line drives from gap to gap.

 

 

Harrison Skinner RHP / SS / Kettle Run, VA / 2026

Skinner was certainly a standout arm at the recent Mid-Atlantic Trials. Skinner sat 84-85 with a fastball that showed well above average raw spin and possessed a sinker profile. Long loose arm and thinner frame. Everything suggests that there is more velo to add there and has the chance to do so as he adds some mass to the frame. The breaking ball was the winner on the day. Up to 2960 RPM, giving it some higher end makeup in that department. The slider averaged nearly 20" of horizontal movement with a Spin Score of 40. The stuff alone gives Skinner a chance to be an intriguing arm for schools and will continue to make steps forward as he adds more command and the velo ticks up. 

 

 

Landon Turman LHP / C / Abingdon, VA / 2026

In the past it has been tough to get a quality look at some of the young talent in deep southwest Virginia, but Turman did not elude us this spring. Our staff got two quality looks at the sophomore outfielder/left-hander. Left/left two-way talent with some sneaky pop at the plate and a solid hit tool to go with it. Turman paces the top of the Abingdon order and has been pivotal in all of the success they have had this spring. In addition to his offensive prowess, Turman has been just as strong on the mound. For us, it is probably bat first, but the low-mid 80's arm should not be an afterthought. High three-quarter slot, multiple pitches for strikes, and competes in the zone.
