On May 19th our Virginia/DC/Maryland staff held our annual Mid-Atlantic Trials event at Paul VI Catholic High School. We saw over twenty players from across the Mid-Atlantic region and would like to highlight a few standouts from that day.

Michael Clark Breedlove OF / 1B / Liberty Christian Academy , VA / 2026Breedlove had a solid day, leading all hitters with the top exit velocity at 97.1 mph. He has a smooth swing and sneaky pop with an average hand speed of 23.1 mph. He does an excellent job of using his lower half to explode through the ball, generating power. Breedlove had an outfield velocity of 80 mph. Breedlove is a player to watch as he continues to grow heading into his junior season.

Lukas Harbour RHP / 1B / Riverside , VA / 2026Long levered 6-foot-4 frame. Lean strength present throughout the frame. Longer stride down the mound and a longer arm action to match. Plenty of arm speed through release. The fastball had some life at the top of the zone, sitting 83-85 mph. Harbour also showed a 73-74 mph slider that had occasional late depth and tighter 11/5 shape. Plenty of room to add strength and continue to add polish to the pitchability.

Justin Lee OF / RHP / PDG Academy, VA / 2026Lee is one of the top-ranked players in the state. He has a compact frame measuring 5-foot-ten, 187 pounds. He has a smooth swing that reached a 94 mph exit velocity and had the highest on-plane efficiency among all hitters. His swing is short and quick, showing power potential. His farthest hit ball was 346 ft. Lee’s bat shows potential to fit in a college lineup. He has a quiet load and stride, allowing the bat to get directly to the ball. Lee is an uncommitted player to watch for.

Matthew McCauley LHP / 1B / Mountain View (Stafford), VA / 2026One of the top-ranked left-handed arms in the 2026 class was sitting 84-86 mph, topping out at 87 mph. He has a solid three-pitch mix consisting of a fastball with armside run, curveball, and changeup. McCauley did an excellent job of changing velocity with his curveball sitting 72-74 mph and his changeup at 77-79 mph. McCauley has a high-end changeup averaging -18.9 in. of horizontal movement and an average spin rate of 1868 rpm. He does an excellent job getting down the mound using all of his 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame. Additionally, McCauley had an average exit velocity of 85 mph at the plate, topping at 91.3 mph. McCauley is uncommitted and will be fun to watch as his career progresses.

Nico Moritz-Toledo OF / 1B / Battlefield, VA / 2027The Virginia Tech commit showed why he is the number-one-ranked 2027 outfielder in Virginia. Nico displayed all his tools, running an impressive 6.47 60-yard dash and having the top outfield velocity at 81 mph. At the plate, he led players in average distance at 261 ft while having a maximum exit velocity of 91.3 mph. His swing is quick, with his hands set preloaded, and he uses a smooth toe-tap. He showed above-average hand speed for his age, averaging 21.2 mph. At only 15 years old, Nico flashed high-end numbers that show why he is a top talent in the 2027 class.

Harrison Skinner RHP / SS / Kettle Run, VA / 2026Skinner is a 2026 pitcher out of Kettle Run High School. He had an excellent bullpen-flashing command of his fastball, slider, and changeup. His fastball sat 82-84 mph, and he has an out pitch in his slider. Skinner got the spin rate on his slider up to 2960 rpm and averaged -19.6 in. of horizontal movement. Skinner is someone to watch, as he has flashes command for all three pitches with and above-average slider.

OWEN SNOW OF / RHP / Marriotts Rigde, MD / 2026At 6-foot-4, 188.9 pounds, Snow is an intimidating presence in the class of 2026. He has a slower-paced delivery with live-arm action. He took home the highest pitching velocity on the day, with his fastball topping 87 mph while sitting 85-87 mph. Snow had an average spin rate of 2406 rpm on his slider. He was also solid at the plate. He had the second-highest exit velocity of the day at 95 mph and an average bat speed of 73 mph. Snow only turns 16 in a month and has two-way potential.
