St. Christophers was a little banged up on the mound in 2022, but what seemed to be a negative may turn into a positive in 2023. What will it take for the Saints to get back on top of the VISAA DI mountain? Read the full preview below.
Classification: VISAA Division I 2022 Record: 22-6 *Lost in semi's to Miller School*
Key Losses: Cam Nuckols (VCU), Carter Schmitt (Randolph-Macon), Kyle Haines (Randolph-Macon), Jacob Carnley, Sterling Austin (Hampden-Sydney)
There aren't many programs that are as consistently successful as the St. Christopher Saints. The Saints return what ended up being one of their best arms, VMI commit Jim Douthat. Another arm that could be a factor, especially early on is Henry Knighton. Although they were really banged up on the mound in 2022, St. Chris knocked out twenty-two wins before losing to Miller School in the VISAA Division I semifinals. They will have to replace a lot of offense from 2022 after losing their All-State catcher, Carter Schmitt (Randolph-Macon), but have a nice combination of youth and experience to help fill that void. Seniors, Bradley Garner (USC-Upstate) and Charlie Knighton (Washington College) should pace the offense. Two potential young breakout names to know for the Saints' offense are William Hurt and Bryce Neely.
