Monday night saw Heritage hit the road to Brambleton to take on a young Briar Woods team. Both teams started righthanders, the Pride going with senior Dylan Smith and Briar Woods with junior Jackson Vincent. An entertaining back and forth game took place. Briar Woods opened the scoring in the bottom of the second after sophomore Gage Strucko led the inning off with a double. Senior Anthony Famiglietti drove him in with a single and ended up scoring himself later to give the Falcons the early 2-0 lead.

Heritage wasted no time bouncing back, taking the lead back in the top of the third. Senior Colin Shue (Kenyon) tied the game on his second hit of the game, an infield hit, and sophomore Aaron Van Tuyle gave the Pride a lead with and RBI single to left. Heritage would add to that lead in the top of the fourth, with Shue delivering the big blow there with a 2-RBI single that made the score 7-2.

Briar Woods immediately bounced back, cutting it to 7-5 in the bottom of the fourth and then retaking the lead in the fifth. Van Tuyle would add a solo home run in his last at-bat for Heritage, but the Falcons ended up with a come-from-behind 10-8 win.

Owen Brundage SS / OF / Heritage (Leesburg), VA / 2025

Brundage is 5-11 with a lankier frame, plenty of room to add strength as he continues to develop. Has a good lateral first step fielding and a quick exchange. At the plate, relaxed open taller stance. Short to the ball, keeps hands inside, slightly uphill swing path, line drive hitter with an all fields approach and ability to roll the ball up the gaps. Projects to gap power as he gets stronger.

Colin Shue C / RHP / Heritage (Leesburg), VA / 2023

Aaron Van Tuyle C / SS / Heritage (Leesburg), VA / 2025

Van Tuyle is 5-11 with an athletic frame that has some strength present. Played rightfield in this game with Shue at catcher. Big day at the plate, slightly open relaxed athletic stance. Quiet simple set-up, short and quick to contact, has some whip in his bat and strength at his contact point. Shows some present pull power with the chance to develop more. Knock in the video is a hammered single down the leftfield line and he also homered to left center late in the game.

Max Lawson SS / 2B / Briar Woods , VA / 2025

Lawson is 6-0 with a lankier frame that has a ton of room for him to add strength. Moves well at short, soft quick hands, very quick exchange. Arm strength is average right now but it has upside, has a good sense of tempo and gets the ball out in the right time. At the plate, its a wider slightly open stance, quiet simple set-up, quick to the ball, very strong at his contact point with extension present. Path is uphill and he generates plenty of natural loft. Showed an all fields approach in this game and had a few barrels, gap power present with chance to show more.

Gage Strucko 2B / SS / Briar Woods, VA / 2025

Strucko is 6-0 with a lanky frame, ton of room to add strength to it. Hit in the four hole in the game, balanced athletic slightly open stance. Quiet, short stride and load and simple set-up. Keeps hands tight and is short to the ball, swing in the video was a 2-strike offspeed pitch away, he kept his hands back as long as he could and then threw the barrel and let it work, went for a double to right-center. Doubles present with a chance to add more. On the mound, he was 80-82, longer loose arm action from a three-quarters slot. Fastball gets some late armside run that has a bit of depth as well.

Jackson Vincent OF / RHP / Briar Woods, VA / 2024

Vincent has a strong frame. Started the game on the mound, simple delivery, throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, normal effort to his delivery. Fastball was 79-80, touching 81 once, with a bit of late run and sink to it. Showed a slider with good armspeed and late 10/4 break at 73-74. Also a few change-ups in the mix right around 72 with some sink to them.
