In this week's Throwback Thursday, we take a look at a few 2018 and 2019 lefties that stood out at Prep Baseball Report VA/DC’s Fall Tournaments, the September Shootout and the Columbus Day Classic.

Kai Boyd, LHP, Patriot, 2018
Boyd is a lanky lefty who throws from a side arm slot with a choppy drop and drive delivery. His shoulders are closed as he strides out to a slightly closed landing, creating a crossfire delivery that has a lot of deception. His fastball has some late sink to it and ran 71-72 in September, touching 73 and he pounded the bottom of the zone with it.

Bryce Eisenreich, OF/LHP, Freedom (South Riding), 2019
Eisenreich has an athletic frame and a fluid swing. At the plate he hits from an athletic stance with a smooth load back and a short stride. He has a good lower half and maintains good balance throughout the swing. He has average bat speed and a short path to the ball and currently is a line drive hitter. As he gets stronger he should add bat speed and power to his pretty swing. He ran a 4.68 home to first. On the mound, Eisenreich throws from a three-quarters arm slot and has a drop and drive delivery. His fastball sat 66-69, touching 71 in September. He threw a big, gradual 2/8 breaking slider that ran 54-57. 

Brody Mack, LHP, Potomac, 2019
Mack is a lanky lefty who throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. His shoulders are level and closed as he strides out to a closed landing, creating a classic lefty crossfire and good deception. In September, his fastball ran 69-73 and he pounded the strike zone with it. He also threw a big, 1/7 breaking curveball that ran 59-63.

Seth Richards, LHP/OF, Oakton, 2019
Richards is a lanky lefty who throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. He has a long, loose arm action and a quick arm that works. His shoulders are closed and uphill and he creates good angle and deception with a slightly closed landing. Richards’ fastball ran 72-73 in October and he hid it well. His breaking ball has sharp 1/7 action and ran 62. The pitch has a lot of potential as he gets stronger and tightens the spin on it. His changeup is straight and has good armspeed, running 66. He pounds the zone and is a heck of a competitor, shutting down a good Stars White team in the Columbus Day Classic Championship Game. In the outfield, he gets good reads on the ball and has a strong arm.

Alejandro Rodriguez, LHP/OF, Hayfield, 2018
Rodriguez is a talented two-way player with a lanky, athletic frame that is very projectable. On the mound, he throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short loose arm action that generates velocity with normal effort. He has a drop and drive delivery and throws with a classic lefty crossfire. His fastball had late run and ran 76-77, touching 78 in September. He threw a 1/7 power slider with good armspeed that ran 66-69. His command of both pitches was very good until he began to tire. At the plate, Rodriguez hits from an athletic stance and has a short stride. He maintains good balance throughout his swing and has an explosive lower half that generates a fast bat. He has a short path and extends through the ball. He has a line drive swing and works gap to gap with the potential to grow into a lot more power as he gets stronger.
