TPG II: Outfielder Breakdown

In mid-July, over 30 players took part in our Top Prospect Games II showcase at City Stadium in Lynchburg. Today, we continue our detailed breakdown of that event with the primary outfielders:
Gavin Coles OF / RHP / Brookville , VA / 2022Coles is 6-3 with a lankier athletic frame that has some strength present and plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, smooth load back to a wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, quick to the ball, slightly uphill swing path, showed a good approach working gap to gap, exit velocity was 79. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields it with average hands, clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 82. Ran a 7.58 60 yard dash. |
Jalen Dupree OF / RHP / Western Branch , VA / 2024Dupree is 5-9 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance, strides on line, smooth load back. Hips rotate completely and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands go straight to the ball, slightly uphill swing path, showed a good approach working gap to gap, exit velocity was 73. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with average hands, clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 68. Ran a 7.42 60 yard dash. |
Garrett Gartrell OF / RHP / Norfolk Christian, VA / 2020Gartrell is 6-3 with a lankier athletic frame that has some strength on it already and some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance, short leg kick stride on line, smooth load back to a slight wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands are short to the ball and stay inside it, slightly uphill swing path, showed a good approach working gap to gap, power plays up to pull side, exit velocity was 87. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 79. |
Ethan Ketron LHP / OF / Abingdon, VA / 2022Ketron is 6-3 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a leaned back balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, short load back to a slight wrap. Hips rotate with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands are quick to the ball and he stays inside it, slightly uphill swing path with extension through it, showed a good approach working primarily gap to gap with the ability to turn on balls, some power present, exit velocity was 92. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, quick clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 80. Ran a 7.05 60 yard dash. |
Neo Klemish OF / RHP / Grafton, VA / 2022Klemish is 5-8 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a leaned back balanced athletic stance, strides on line, short load back to a wrap. Hips rotate with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands are quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, showed a good approach working primarily gap to gap, exit velocity was 82. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, quick exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 75. Matthew McGovern OF / SS / Thomas Dale, VA / 2024McGovern is 5-10 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, loads down and back. Hips rotate with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands are quick and stays inside the ball, uphill swing path with strength at contact and extension through the ball, showed a good approach working primarily gap to gap, exit velocity was 77. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 77. Chase Sanford OF / RHP / Atlee, VA / 2022Sanford is 6-0 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, leg kick stride on line, loads back to a wrap. Hips rotate completely with violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Handsare short and quick to the ball, uphill swing path with extension through the ball, showed a good approach using the whole field, exit velocity was 78. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, quick clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 81.
