A cold windy in Friday night's saw a National District matchup between Edison and Justice High School. Justice started the game with sophomore lefty Dean Kampschror (Virginia) on the mound and Edison started the game with senior right hander Michael Plunkett on the mound. Justice would score 2 runs in the first inning and tack on four more later and ultimately cruised to a 6-0 victory.
In the bottom of the first, Justice got things going as Michael Novak led off with a double to center. Dean Kampschror helped his own cause with a single to right, putting runners on the corners. A Nick Guerra sacrifice fly scored the first run of the game and another base hit put two runners back on. Senior shortstop Archer Rutledge drove in the second run with a single to left. Plunkett was then able to escape the inning with two strikeouts with the score 2-0.
Kampschror was the story of the game for Justice on the mound, throwing five scoreless innings and only allowing 3 hits during his time on the mound, working around some walks but not really allowing Edison to manage any offense. Kampschror struck out four during his outing and generated a lot of ground balls.
For Edison, Plunkett settled in to throw a scoreless second and third innings before he was relieved in favor of Ken Axelbank in the fourth. Justice was able to get four runs off of Axelbank with Novak picking up another base hit and an RBI single in the inning, making the score 6-0 after four.
Guerra would relieve Kampschror for Justice and threw the last two innings, finishing the shutout and ending the game with a 6-0 win for the Wolves.
For Justice, Kampschror earned the win with 5 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 4 BB, 4 K while going 2-3 at the plate. Guerra went 2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 4 K and had an RBI at the plate. Novak was 2-2 with a 2B, BB, SB, and an RBI.
For Edison, freshman Abiel Meaza went 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 K. Brennan Edenhart was 1-2 with 2 BBs in the leadoff spot. Vaughn Gallicano drew 2 BBs. Jeff Etter was 1-3 with a BB.
