Clancy Dominates as Westfield Wins

Friday night saw Westfield and Centreville battle for the Concorde District championship. A pitcher's duel broke out between Westfield senior RHP Joe Clancy and Centreville junior RHP Eric Bohenek, Centreville, both dominated in a game that saw a combined 3 total hits and 23 strikeouts.
Clancy pitched a complete game shutout, with 16 strikeouts, 2 hits allowed and 1 walk. Bohenek allowed only 1 hit, struck out 7 batters and issued 1 walk. Both runs he allowed were unearned and scored in the bottom of the first inning. Sophomore Kevin Mackmin had the lone hit and RBI for Westfield, a double in the first inning.
Centreville had 2 hits in the game, a single by junior Thomas Trinca in the fourth inning and a single in the fifth inning by Junior Michael Welliver.
Both teams will advance to the Region 6D tournament, with Centreville opening their play on Wednesday in the first round, and Westfield earning a bye to Friday's quarterfinals.
