5 Star Carolina Viper Workout Statistics
May 24, 2018
Prep Baseball Report was invited to attend the 5 Star Carolina Viper workout day at Diamond Xtreme in Kernersville, NC on Sunday May 20th. The workout included players from the 5 Star Viper program in the 2019 – 2022 class, as well as two uncommitted 2018 graduates. Along with PBR, approximately 15 college coaches were in attendance to take in the workout.
Over 95 players took part in the day, going through a modified pro style workout. Each position player was able to workout offensively, taking a full round of BP in the spacious 100’x100’ field cage at Diamond Xtreme. During the BP portion, players were able to use the Hit Trax to monitor distance and exit velocity off the bat. The defensive portion saw catchers make full length throws to 2B, outfielders made 100’ throws from CF, into netting, and infielders were able to take ground balls and throw across the infield. Players were run through some agility testing by 5 Star staff including a standing broad jump and 5-10-5 agility test.
Pitchers threw a controlled bullpen working their complete repertoire of pitches. Velocities were taken as each arm was evaluated.
Below are some of the top statistical efforts from the workout.
