Top Prospect Games: Fort Worth Quick Hits - Position Players

TEXAS - On Tuesday, June 25, we hosted the Top Prospect Games: Fort Worth at Texas Christian University. This invite-only event featured players from all high school classes that have earned their invite with our scouting staff. The day started with position players running a 60, throwing from defensive positions, and taking two rounds of BP. Following the workout, we went into gameplay where we saw the pitcher only participants show up and show out. Today, we take a look at some of the position players that stood out on the day.

QUICK HITS
Weston Cox OF / OF / Plano West, TX / 2025Smaller, athletic player with quick twitch. 6.49 60, 4.36 in game. BA arm strength presently, arm works fine, would benefit from long toss program. Opportunities for hit approach to improve. Bat speed present. Slightly open start, knee lift start, strides slightly closed along drift forward of body. Not a bad path to baseball with the barrel. Real tools, just needs to keep getting ab’s.

Axel Chasak OF / 2B / PLANO WEST SENIOR H S, TX / 2025Rankings StateRank: 218 / POS: 52
Good frame with room to add strength. 6.63 60. Arm works, BA arm strength presently, will throw better in future. Like his HS teammate, Weston Cox, would benefit from long toss program. Moves well to baseball. Upright stance, some length to stride, occ. drifts off backside with stride. Drops hands hitting creating scoop type swings at times. Hard contact when he finds the barrel. Another one with tools who needs more and more ab’s.

Room for strength. 6.88 60. Good actions present fielding, hands are fine, good feet moving to ball and fielding. Arm will be fringe avg to avg in future. Open stance to start, strides slightly closed, barrel in good position to launch. Avg bat speed present. JC’s should check in on him

Grayson Moore SS / OF / Plano West, TX / 2025Good frame/build for future strength. 6.89 60. Solid actions and hands fielding. Arm works fine, BA arm strength presently. Like his teammates above, needs to get on a long toss program. Chance for arm to be fringe avg to better in future. Moved fine in OF to baseball. Slight crouched stance, short stride, gets into good position to hit. Decent path to baseball. Needs strength. JC player right now

Good frame for adding strength. 7.13 60. Fair actions on the infield, footwork can be improved. Arm works fine, fringe avg arm in future. BA hit approach presently, hands away from body, keeps hands away going to slight barrel tip. Long, scoop swing. Lower ½ works fine. Shows some bat speed and solid contact off the barrel. Upside to contact consistency when he gets into a better position to launch. JC’s should be checking in on him.

Fringe avg future, long toss program could get to avg in time. Good approach to hit with good swing path. Showed good swings in game with one hit to RF. Will benefit from adding strength. Athletic.

Knee lift with stride back to online with pitcher. Lower ½ works well. High hands start, hand cock creating some length with minor wrap. Bat speed present with ability to handle barrel. Good player, like the upside with added strength.

Good, simple approach to hit, EZ swing with hard contact. Consistently found the barrel. 2 hard hit doubles in the game. Good player. Should be getting lot of looks this summer

Foot quickness will improve with strength and maturity. Simple approach to hit, open stance, online stride. Hands separate from body slightly with stride, could free up his hands/wrist prior to launch, overall appr is fine. Solid path to baseball, shows pull side power.

5’11 180 Good build for catcher with room to add more strength. Slow feet running, 7.67 60. Good hand to glove exchange with solid pop times to 2nd. 1.94-2.0 Received fine in game, blocking can improve. Approach to hit works for him. Minor crouch with feet slightly wider than shoulders. Short stride landing on toe, stays on toe until pitch on its way. High hands start with the wrist cock getting the barrel into a good launch position. Shows ability to hit balls hard. At times, timing is off with the front foot. Hard double to LCF in game. One for colleges to follow over next year, a lot to like.

Wide base with crouched stance, lift and place stride foot. Lower half works in swing. Barrel in solid position to hit with minor wrist cock. I like the swing, ability to cover both sides of plate. Strength is coming.

Stride and separate approach, with stride hands travel from shoulder level to above shoulders, barrel gets little length with slight wrap. Length to swing with pull approach. When he stayed in the middle of field with a couple of swings in BP, had good contact. JC type player that can stay in the middle of field with chance hit with adjustments.

Brock Burkett OF / 2B / Keller, TX / 20266’0 175 with good build, frame to add strength. 6.69 60. Moved well to baseball. Arm works fine, should have arm arm in future. Short, quick abbreviated load with hands, dead stop start with lower. Lacks rhythm and timing. Shows some bat speed and ability to handle bat. Timing will improve with pre pitch movements.

5’11 180 Will get stronger. 7.39 60. Solid actions moving to ball and setting feet with decent hands. Arm works, will have fringe avg to avg arm in future. Good approach to hit, open stance with stride working to slightly closed landing. Barrel in decent position to launch. Swing is a bit long, will pull off at times, when he worked middle of the field, solid contact. Will loose barrel on balls away occ. Will improve with strength.

5’10 175 Frame/build to add strength. 7.09 60. Decent actions with body control present. Hands good when he fields the ball out front. Avg arm in future, arm works well. Simple approach to hit with bat speed/quickness present. Solid AB’s in game. Player that I have seen this summer who takes quality AB’s. Colleges should be taking a look at him this summer.

6’0 180 will gain strength. 6.61 60. Plus runner. Moves to ball well in OF, arm works, will have avg arm in future. Crouched stance with avg stride, lower ½ can be improved in swing. Back foot kicks back slightly instead of driving forward causing loss of impact and pulling off. Barrel starts with a slight wrap, and the swing has some length. Definitely one to follow, strength present now, will gain more. Athletic with bat speed present

6’4 220 Big frame, build presently. Can add strength. 7.02 60, moves well for the body. Decent actions with slow feet, corner guy, could end up at 1st in future. Arm works fine, accurate throws. Good base to hit from with slight crouch in stance. No stride approach, lifts back heel off ground and gets back down. Late, quick hand movement creates some timing issues, if he slows down load, feel he will develop better timing, should be more consistent in zone and on time. Chance for power in future.

Jeffrey Claycomb C / 3B / Rowlett, TX / 20266’1 210 Solid catchers frame, build. Strong/thick lower. 7.26 60. receives fine, can improve receiving. Solid footwork throwing and hand to glove exchange. 1.92-2.0 pop times in workout. Crouched stance with wide base, short stride. Gets loaded into a good position to hit. Solid swing, can get pull conscious at times. Makes hard contact. Power is coming. Catcher with ability to throw, showing signs of power. Long double to LCF in game.

6’1 195 Solid build with room to add strength. 7.35 60. Overall has decent actions fielding, does let the ball get deep at times, can be helped. Arm works, will have an avg arm in future. Lower ½ works in swing. Starts with crouched stance shoulder with apart, knee lift with short stride. Starts with barrel flat just off the shoulder, wrap present. Length to swing, front shoulder pulls off. Strength present, interested to swing how he can impact baseball with adjustments.

5’11 190 Good build/frame with room to add strength. Good catchers build. Near avg arm strength, carry to throws. 1.85-1.95 pop times in workout. Solid receiver, hands are fine. Good approach to hit, simple movements. Solid bat speed with bat strength. Barrel finds baseball with hard contact. Hard contact in game. D1 definite recruit.

6’1 205 Solid build, some thickness to body. 7.42 60. Solid defender at 1st. Feet are steady, good actions with softness to hands. Body control present. Arm works, will have fringe avg arm strength in future. Slightly open stance to start with online stride, good approach to hit. Makes solid, consistent contact. Top exit velo of 102. Showed power to pull side.

6’6 180 Long and lanky with lots of room to add strength. 7.17 60. Defensively moves fine to baseball, fields the ball with dead feet, hands are avg. Arm works fine, will have fringe avg arm in future. Upright stance with solid stride. Minimal to no backside rotation costing him bat speed and impact. Hands start at top of shoulders, barrel tip over cap creating some length. Length to swing, like the path to baseball, cuts off after contact. Lot to work with, an intriguing player to me. Strength will come, feel he is going to come into power in future. Interesting player to track development over next year.

5’11 175 Solid build, room to add strength. 7.22 60. Infield moves fine to the baseball. Fields ball deep at times, footwork can improve thru fielding process. Slight crouched stance with good stride, lower ½ works in swing. Slight barrel tip creating some length to swing. Hands get away from the body with an occ barrel dump. He does have bat strength with avg bat speed, I like the hit ability with adjustments
