Top Prospect Games: Fort Worth - Quick Hits (Pitchers)
July 5, 2024
TEXAS - On Tuesday, June 25, we hosted the Top Prospect Games: Fort Worth at Texas Christian University. This invite-only event featured players from all high school classes that have earned their invite with our scouting staff. The day started with position players running a 60, throwing from defensive positions, and taking two rounds of BP. Following the workout, we went into gameplay where we saw the pitcher only participants show up and show out. Today, we take a look at some of the pitchers that stood out on the day.
***For notes mentioned, I am grading against ML Players. If I say that a player has below avg arm strength, that is against ML Players, not their peers in HS.*** - North TX ScoutingDirector, Max Semler
QUICK HITS
Luke Sandefur RHP / 3B / Aledo High School, TX / 2026Rankings StateRank: 88 / POS: 23
5’9 170 Good build with strength present. Arm speed with good arm action. FB presently 84-87 touching 88. Quality FB attributes with carry present, effective up in zone. Spin present to CB, lacks command at this time. Reminds me of some undersized pitchers that have the FB/CB combo from the low release. Stuff plays up. Need to follow. |
Elijah Webber RHP / 1B / BOYD H S, TX / 2026Rankings StateRank: 60 / POS: 15
6’2 182 Good frame to add strength. Arm works with arm speed present. Delivery can be improved, opens early. Look for velo spike in the future. FB presently 84-86, touched 87. FB with tail/sink. Elijah has confidence in throwing FB. CB 70-75 with occ avg action. Slider 75-78 with fair spin. Change 73-75 with tail/sink. Avg strike thrower with FB, command of secondary fringe avg presently. Upside, will get stronger, arm speed present. Should be getting looks from colleges with 2 years to graduation. |
Matthew Williams RHP / McKinney Boyd, TX / 2025Rankings StateRank: 124 / POS: 34
6’2 190 Good build. Delivery has development opportunities, weak glove hand. Front side open past midline of stride at times. Cuts off circle, arm works fine on top and out front. Solid extension at release. FB worked 86-88 this outing with sink. Did see him in relief this spring touched 90. More velo to come. Spiked CB, showing occ avg action with depth to finish, 75-77. Due to depth of starting options at McKinney Boyd, Williams may find himself coming from pen. Long term, would not discount his ability to start. JC’s and mid majors should be checking in on his progress. |
Tyler Holmes RHP / Rowlett, TX / 2025Rankings StateRank: 169 / POS: 43
6’3 240 Strong build to lower. Thickness thru middle. Arm works fine. Delivery is fine, slight head jerk present. Have seen him throw 3 times this year. Start for Rowlett in spring, Area Code Workout and this event. FB 87-89 with tail/sink to arm side. FB command near avg. CB 74-77 with depth to arm side, tilt increased to glove side. SL 76-81 with depth present when landed, will get on side at times. Split change 79-81 with quality action. I like the upside for velo in the future. Competes. JC’s and mid majors should be looking in on Tyler. |
Kayden Mansell RHP / OF / Lakeridge, TX / 2026Rankings StateRank: 135 / POS: 32
5’11 169 Good build with strength to lower. Arm speed present, arm works with full circle. Front side opens early presently. FB 84-86 shows occ carry to FB. CB 75-77 with quality spin/finish. Throws slider, blends with CB, lacks spin, 75-77. Change has tail/sink action, 76-81, chance for change to be avg. Near avg strike thrower. Upside present, arm speed, shows avg spin action to CB. Athletic. JC’s and mid majors should be watching progress. |
