Pitchers

RHP Mackenson Bobo (Carthage HS) is a command right-hander with feel for three pitches that will be a quality addition to a recruiting class. Listed at 5-foot-8, 155-pounds, Bobo works from a ¾ slot with a loose arm stroke and quick hand out front. Pounds the zone with his fastball at 84-87 with arm side run. Spins his curveball for a strike with 10/4 shape at 72 mph, and his changeup is a legitimate pitch with arm side fade at 78-79 mph. Worth noting, Bobo also ran a 6.73 60-yard dash, threw 92 from the outfield, and posted an exit velocity of 91. With his ability to throw three pitches for a strike and track record for eating innings, Bobo will likely be a quality sleeper pick for a recruiting class.

OF/LHP Joe Slack (Liberty HS) pounded the strike zone with a FB/SL/CB mix, working from a ¾ slot with his fastball at 83-85 mph with arm side life. His slider is sharp with 10/4 shape and depth at 75-78 mph, and acts more like a cutter with late depth. Also mixed in a 69 mph 11/5 curveball that pops up out of his hand but finishes with depth. Slack showed a fast arm in the outfield, topping out at 87 mph, and ran a 6.8 60-yard dash. The right-handed hitter pounded a home run foul during BP, flashing decent power for his size (5-foot-9, 165-pounds) with a 90 mph exit velocity. Flew out on the barrel to centerfield during the game, and got a hustle-double down the left field line.

RHP Luke Douthitt (Plano West HS) was 86-88 early in his outing, creating tilt and angle on his fastball from the windup. The right-hander has a deceptive arm stroke with a quick hand out front that creates heavy movement on his fastball. Velocity drops a tick out of the stretch when he slide steps (82-85), but when he gets in a quarter turn with his hips, he still creates the same movement and athleticism down the mound with higher velocities. Curveball was 71 mph with 11/5 shape, and 66 mph out of the stretch.

RHP Devon Patel (Klein Oak HS) threw one of the best breaking balls of the day, and he threw it whenever he wanted. Working from a high-¾ slot, Patel has a clean arm swing with all three pitches coming out of the same window. His fastball comes out clean at 82-84 mph, but the curveball is a pure 12/6 hammer with sharp downer break at 70-71. Also showed feel for a 77 mph changeup that he got a swing and miss from a LHH.

RHP Parker Bigham (Barbers Hill HS) has a projectable, lean-muscular frame at 6-foot-3, 185-pounds. Working from a ¾ slot, the right-handers fastball was mostly 84-85, dropping only a time or two to 82-83. Showed good command of his fastball, getting a backward strikeout on a fastball in. Spun his curveball at 71-73 mph with 11/5 shape.

RHP Kyle Mosley (Lake Ridge HS) has plenty of room to add strength to his frame at 6-foot-1, 145-pounds, and already has a quick arm. The right-hander sat 84-86, working from a long arm stroke. Hooks his curveball in the back but still throws it with similar arm speed at 65-67 with deep 10/4 shape.

LHP Zachry Schneider (Atascocita HS) made quick work of his inning with quality fastball command and a solid changeup. The left-hander still has plenty of room to add strength to his 6-foot, 150-pound frame. He works from a ¾ slot with a whip-like arm swing. His fastball topped out at 82 mph, sitting only 76-80 with good arm side run on his two-seamer. Used a four-seamer to come in to right-handed hitters, making several quality pitches in, before going to his 70-72 mph changeup with arm side fade.

RHP James Taylor (Ft. Bend Christian) has a high-waisted frame at 6-foot-3, 175-pounds. The right-hander works from a long arm swing from a ¾ slot with sinking action and late life on his fastball at 81-83 mph. Threw his curveball around the zone at 65-66 with big 10/4 bender shape.

3B/RHP Dalton Davis (Prosper HS) had a solid all-around day, standing out during the positional workout, and on the mound. He ran a 6.82 60-yard dash, laced line drives through the middle of the field during BP with an exit velocity of 98 mph, and threw 87 mph across the diamond. In the game, the right-handed hitter crushed a triple to right-centerfield, and worked a quick inning on the mound. Working with a long, loose arm swing from a low, submarine slot, his fastball had good arm side run at 79-81 mph, and he pulled the string on a couple of plus changeups at 69 mph. He also has a curveball that came in at 64 mph with side-to-side 9/3 action.

RHP Jacob Henigan (Buffalo HS) showed plus command of his curveball at 71-73 mph, throwing it multiple times for a strike, and getting swings and misses. Working from a high slot with some effort in his delivery, Henigan’s fastball came in at 79-81 mph, but he spun his curveball early and often, locating it in the zone early, and burying it late for punchouts.

RHP Dylan McDonald (College Park HS) has a strong, projectable frame at 6-foot-4, 190-pounds. Working from a high slot, his fastball was 80-81 from the windup (77-78 from the stretch) and he threw his curveball for a strike with tight rotation and short 11/5 break at 69 mph.

Athletic Position Players

Recent North Central Texas JC OF/3B Cody Pike (Lindale HS) showed why he is already a coveted recruit for the Lions. There is an ease to his game with natural actions in the outfield and simple strength at the plate. Pike has a strong frame at 6-foot, 185-pounds, and generates plenty of bat speed (92 mph) with fast hands and natural lift as he attacks the inside of the baseball with whip in his barrel. Pike threw 88 from the outfield and scorched a double to left centerfield during the game.

3B Tre Armendariz (Cypress Woods HS) spent a good portion of this past high school sidelined by a four-wheeling accident. But the 6-foot-1, 160-pound, left-handed hitting infielder is back and ready play. Balanced approach during BP, his barrel stays in the zone a long time as he attacks the inside part of the ball on a flat plane with a line drive approach and an exit velocity of 94 mph. Moves really well at shortstop and has a quick first step. Soft hands, clean exchange and rhythm as he plays through the ball. Has the arm strength and fell to stay on the left side of the infield with a top velocity of 86 mph across the diamond.

3B/SS Jeffrey David (Georgetown HS) has an athletic frame at 6-foot-1, 180-pounds, with smooth actions on the infield. Ran a 6.82 60-yard dash and posted a 97 mph exit velocity during BP, showcasing strong contact, lift and barrel awareness from a wide base. Plays through the ball with rhythm at shortstop, starts and finishes the double play with ease, and can throw from different arm slots. He crushed a deep fly ball to centerfield during the game and made a fantastic play on defense in a first and third situation, catching the ball on top of the bag at second and throwing a bullet to the plate to get the runner from third.

SS Connor Jackson (Prosper HS) has outstanding footwork at shortstop to go with soft hands as he plays through the ball with rhythm and tempo. At 5-foot-10, 160-pounds, Jackson has a lean, athletic frame, and is a switch-hitter that can handle the bat from both sides of the plate.

SS Gus Witt (Kilgore HS) has a projectable, lean-muscular frame at 6-foot-1, 175-pounds. Ran a 6.88 60-yard dash and showed off quick footwork to go with an an accurate arm across the diamond.

OF Martin Rodriguez (Carnegie Vanguard HS) may only be 5-foot-7, 130-pounds, but there is a lot of fast-twitch athleticism in his frame. The left-handed hitter ran a 6.89 60-yard dash, and showcased a balanced swing during BP with an inside/out path, quick hands, and solid barrel awareness. After grounding out on the barrel twice running a 4.25 home-first time twice, Rodriguez ambushed a fastball, launching a triple of the right field wall, running a 4.64 on the turn for a triple.

SS Logan Thielepape (Midway HS) has a young face and still developing, lean frame at 5-foot-9, 145-pounds. Started the day with a 7.05 60-yard dash and showed off quick footwork on the infield, and handled the bat well during BP.

C Austin Hamilton (Birdville HS)  had some of the most consistent pop time of any catcher during the workout, throwing thigh-high strikes to second base with pop times of 2.01-2.05 and a top velocity from the crouch of 80 mph. Hamilton also posted an exit velocity of 90 mph.

Hitters With Juice

1B Nicklaus Baumbach (Euless Trinity HS) has serious juice at the plate, and great footwork around the bag at first base. Listed at 6-foot, 205-pounds, Baumbach crushed balls to deep centerfield during batting practice, and unloaded on a nuked double to left-centerfield during the game. He has easy rhythm with loose hands at the plate, and the ball makes a different sound off his barrel with a top exit velocity of 95 mph. Really like the actions at first base, shows polish and feel for playing that spot at the next level.

C/1B Kory Schmidt (Liberty Hill HS) would be a good pick to be the first guy off the bus for road trips, standing 6-foot-4, 210-pounds, with a strong frame and broad shoulders. Put on a show in BP, using a motorcycle leg kick and taking aggressive hacks, he pounded balls off the left-centerfield wall and posted an exit velocity of 93 mph. Hammered a triple down the right field line during the game, and handled balls in the dirt well, showing he has the athleticism to stay behind the plate. Solid arm strength behind on throws to second base (74 mph) with pop times ranging from 2.05-2.15 with quick feet and clean arm swing.

1B Carson Booth (Brownsboro HS) has a strong, sturdy frame with broad shoulders at 6-foot, 215-pounds. The left-handed hitter has raw strength at the plate with a 91 mph exit velocity. Starts from a tall stance and has a clean path through the zone with quick hands, the ball sounds different off his bat. Collected two singles during the game, one to right field, one to centerfield, both balls were hit on the button.

1B Tyler Post (Johnson HS) is a projectable left-handed bat that raised some early morning eyebrows with his round of BP, showing easy power as he ambushed balls with carry and a 94 mph exit velocity. Ball jumped off his bat to deep centerfield and he also showed pull side pop. Post has good lag in the barrel, working on a slightly uphill plane through the zone, creating natural lift as he throws the head with loose hands and a high finish. He singled sharply to centerfield during the game.

3B/1B Angel Rodriguez (Robert E. Lee HS) handled the bat really well all day. The right-handed hitter posted the top exit velocity of the event with 104 mph off the tee. He stroked the ball during BP, showing a polished approach and hit tool that will allow him to have an impact at the next level. Rodriguez has quick, strong, loose hands with high end barrel awareness. BP was solid, but it was how he swung it during the game that stood out the most, collecting two singles, one to right field with two strikes, working late to the fastball and hitting the ball on the button. The other was a single he hammered down the third base line as he kept his hands back on a curveball.

OF/3B Jax Alley (Prosper HS) is an all-around athlete with juice in his bat. The right-handed hitter was on the barrel all day. He has loose, strong hands that whip the barrel through the zone and on plane, driving balls from gap to gap. Strong contact during the game in all three at-bats. Long stride runner that plays faster than his 7.1 60-yard dash time. Threw 87 from the outfield with high-end accuracy and carry, also spent some time on the infield.

C Junior Torres (Macarthur HS) is an all around athletic back-stop that showed strength in the barrel and posted pop time of 1.93, 2.01, 2.01, and 2.04. Torres has a clean arm stroke with a top velocity from the crouch of 79 mph. The right-handed hitter ran a 7.07 60-yard dash, and made loud contact during BP, lacing line drives with gap power and an exit velocity of 88 mph. Blocked really well during the game, showing off good lower half mobility and soft hands with the ability to smother the ball in front of him.

OF Marcos Broom (Woodville HS) has a strong, barrel chested frame at 5-foot-10, 220-pounds, and posted quality overall numbers during the workout in the morning. Ran a 6.81 60-yard dash, posted an exit velocity of 97 mph, and threw 84 mph from the outfield with excellent carry.
