TEXAS-  A look at a strong group of right-handers from around the state who's stock rising before the season came to an abrupt halt.

Josh Bostick, RHP/SS, Mckinney, 2020
Howard College Recruit. Was likely one of the best kept secrets in the state this spring. 6’4 200 with pro tools all over the place. Electric arm up to 95 and had just started pitching. Easy actions with plenty of bat speed and aggression in the swing. Hard nosed short-stop mentality. Outstanding makeup. Very bright future ahead of him.

Cade Sharp, RHP, Rockwall Heath, 2022
Texas Tech Recruit. "Durably-built at 6-foot-2, 198-pounds, Sharp stands high atop the rubber showcasing a highly-projectable frame with much more strength on the way, and room to hold it, especially in the lower-half. The uncommitted sophomore got the start on the road at Allen High School, and looked the part of a seasoned-veteran across six innings in which he struck out five batters and yielded just two runs. He reached as high as 92 mph with the fastball, sprinkling in a hand full of 90s, and settling at mostly 87-88 throughout. What appears to be a higher RPM fastball, jumped through the zone as he got extension out front after releasing from a high ¾ slot. Remaining compact throughout a polished, uptempo delivery, Sharp appears to rip the ball out of the glove (somewhat) to complete a loose, quick arm stroke. His ability to repeat the delivery stood out, and even more so, his comfort in holding runners and executing pitches with men on base was impressive. Early on in the outing he went immediately to an 82 mph changeup for a strike, and the pitch appeared to pair/profile very well with his fastball. The breaking ball varied in shape and speed at 73-77, but was spun well at times, and has the makings of a potential out-pitch in the future. At times, lateness out of the glove caused the hand to lag in the back which caused the breaking ball to remain up in the zone, but I am confident that Sharp will make quick strides with the pitch in the future."  - Shooter Hunt

Chase Shores, RHP, Midland Lee, 2022
Uncommitted. A lot of physical projection in his 6-foot-7 frame. Loose, whippy arm, short arm path for frame. Works from a low ¾ arm slot that can very at times with pitch selection. FB worked 82-85 T87 was wildly effective at times. SL 74-75 is small with room to improve to a + pitch. CB 69-71 has more depth, slot change some. Extremely high ceiling.

Josh Ekness, OF/RHP, The Woodlands, 2020
Lamar Recruit. "The Highlanders were drawing a crowd already this spring with C Drew Romo leading the squad, but his teammate is experiencing early helium. Ekness, a Lamar recruit, was reported to have hit 96 in a bullpen before the season and didn’t disappoint in a start against RHP Cam Brown (Flower Mound HS, TX). He sat 91-94 that day, touching 95 early, and mixing in an above-average curveball with 12/6 shape and depth at 76-78. He stands out physically with a long, lean frame and also has huge raw power at the plate. The key for Ekness will be if he can repeatedly show that velocity and hold it deep into games, but he clearly has made a big jump since last year." - Nathan Rode

Eric Hammond, RHP, Keller, 2021
USC Recruit. The slender right-handed pitcher stands at an estimated 6-foot-4, 175 pounds. Hammond gets down the mound with a clean delivery with good tempo and a high frontside. His fastball was 90-92 mph through his 3.1 IP, commanding it well to both sides of the plate. He also had a hammer curveball that was 77-79 mph and tunneled it well with a high fastball to get hitters off balance. He had complete confidence in both pitches all night and had 8 strikeouts.

Uncommitted 2022 Xavier Perez out of the notable Veterans Memorial is a quick south Texas arm, that has been up to 91mph this spring. Athletic wiry frame. Has some funk the takeaway. Competitive bulldog on the mound. Gets swing/miss on the breaking ball, and makes the big pitch when he needs it. Defiantly, has some big physical jumps coming. Texas A&M recruit RHP 2022 Lucas Davenport another riser this spring. 6'4 high projection frame/athleticism. Worked 86-89 this spring with bite on the slider. Starter for Prosper this spring as a sophomore. Big-time arm.
