On Saturday, January 7th, the PBR Texas Staff traveled to Weatherford College to host the Houston Preseason ID. The event featured prospects of all HS classes from around the state and provided our staff an ample look at every player in attendance.

We continue the analysis from the event with a look at all of the pitchers. We broke down the top-three pitcher on the day followed by the rest of the in attendance.

TOP PITCHERS

1. Braxton Beaty, Angleton, 2026
Positional Profile: LHP/OF Beaty is a very talented freshman lefty who has 3 next level pitches. One of the top '26 lefties in the state.
Body: 5-9, 140-pounds.
Delivery: Simple and athletic delivery, getting himself in a good position to be consistent.
Arm Action: LH. Works from a low 3/4 slot which gives him some arm side movement.
FB: T86, 84-86 mph. Has some late arm side run, plus velo for freshman lefty. T2176, 1987 average rpm.
SL: 74-76 mph. High spin rate slider tunnels well off the FB with tight late break. T2620, 2459 average rpm.
CH: 76-78 mph. Has good arm side action that makes it a plus pitch to righties and tunnels well with his other pitches. T2024, 1975 average rpm.

2. Matt Zatopek, Houston Christian, 2023
Positional Profile: RHP/RHP Zatopek shows feel for a powerful FB/SL mix with a firm CH to supplement them. Good athlete with great acadmeics.
Body: 6-3, 195-pounds.
Delivery: Standard windup, hips and legs are very present in delivery.
Arm Action: RH. Normal arm action, high 3/4 slot.
FB: T92, 89-92 mph. FB has downhill tilt, plays best down in zone. T2356, 2217 average rpm.
SL: 80-82 mph. High spin rate, sharp slider that tunnels off FB really well. T2586, 2470 average rpm.
CH: 86-87 mph. Firm CH, good for weak contact and stealing strikes. T2096, 2030 average rpm.

3. Ethan Atchley, Rockwall-Heath, 2024
Positional Profile: RHP Atchley works from a low 3/4 slot which gives him a lot of movement on 3 plus pitches making him a solid pick up and sure next level arm..
Body: 6-1, 185-pounds.
Delivery: Really solid lower half mechanics, stays in his legs well.
Arm Action: RH. Works from a low 3/4 slot which creates deception and movement on all pitches.
FB: T88, 86-88 mph. FB has arm side sink, plays heavy. T2151, 1986 average rpm.
SL: 72-74 mph. SL has big sweep and tunnels great off the FB. T2452, 2373 average rpm.
CH: 77-79 mph. Change up looks very similar to fastball and at -10 mph is a great speed difference. T1407, 1363 average rpm.

4. Gunner Greene, Pearland Dawson, 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/1B Gunner is a big righty with a powerful swing, a whole lot to like when on time. On mound has a great frame and projectable FB, Has potential on both sides of the ball.
Body: 6-5, 205-pounds.
Delivery: Rocking windup, big leg swing and high effort delivery.
Arm Action: RH. High 3/4 slot with short arm action.
FB: T88, 85-88 mph. FB has tilt, very downhill. High spin allows him to pitch up or down. Very projectable FB. T2684, 2564 average rpm.
SL: 68-71 mph. High spin rate, plays well off high FB. T2461, 2356 average rpm.

5. Kade Johnson, The Woodlands Christian, 2025
Positional Profile: RHP/OF Johnson works from a high slot out of an athletic delivery with 2 power pitches. Promising arm and velo will likely climb for him as he continues to grow and fill out.
Body: 5-11, 180-pounds.
Delivery: Athletic delivery, holds ball out of glove during windup, drop and drive mechanics.
Arm Action: RH. Very long arm action, high slot, almost over the top.
FB: T89, 87-89 mph. FB has some arm side run to it, misses up sometimes when arm is late. T2192, 1953 average rpm.
SL: 75-77 mph. Really tight breaker, plays well for strikes in zone and chase pitch. T2108, 2054 average rpm.
CH: 77-82 mph. Very hard, straight CH that can play well for weak contact. T2031, 1484 average rpm.

Adam Alvarez, Hebron, 2026
Positional Profile: SS/RHP Alvarez is an athletic freshmen who will be fun to watch develop on both sides of the ball as he continues to grow and fill out.
Body: 5-3, 139-pounds.
Delivery: Delivers from an athletic windup, staying closed down the mound.
Arm Action: RH. Arm works downhill well.
FB: T79, 78-79 mph. Fastball has ride through the zone. T2495, 2426 average rpm.
CB: 65-65 mph. Sharp breaker that tunnels off the fastball. T2039, 2024 average rpm.
CH: 69-71 mph. CH plays well as an out pitch in the zone. T1723, 1461 average rpm.

Travis Berra, Seven Lakes, 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/OF Travis Berra is an athletic two way player that will make a solid pickup.
Body: 6-1, 155-pounds.
Delivery: Good mechanics, high energy delivery, athletic down mound.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm swing, standard 3/4 slot.
FB: T84, 83-84 mph. FB holds plane really well, rides through zone. T2361, 2263 average rpm.
CB: 70-71 mph. High spin breaker, lot of vertical break, pairs great with his FB. T2577, 2498 average rpm.
CH: 74-74 mph. Has a little arm side fade, also has some drop. T1580, 1580 average rpm.

Tyler Berra, Seven Lakes, 2024
Positional Profile: 1B/RHP Tyler Berra is a tall projectable 2 way player who has another jump in him as he gets stronger
Body: 6-4, 185-pounds.
Delivery: Simple delivery, allows himself to repeat well.
Arm Action: RH. Very over the top, working from a high slot.
FB: T80, 79-80 mph. Holds plane well and rides through zone, can pitch above the zone. T2154, 2121 average rpm.
CB: 65-66 mph. a lot of vertical break, pairs well with the FB from that high slot. T2059, 2023 average rpm.
CH: 74-74 mph. Has some arm side action, decent 3rd pitch. T1841, 1841 average rpm.

Coltan Blossom, St. Johns, 2026
Positional Profile: RHP/3B Blossom is an exciting freshman 2 way to keep an eye on who could end up having solid power as he continues to grow and fill out.
Body: 6-0, 160-pounds.
Delivery: Athletic down the mound, has a slight hitch before foot strike.
Arm Action: RH. Works from a high 3/4 slot.
FB: T80, 78-80 mph. Able to throw FB to both sides of plate, FB has late movement. T2193, 2099 average rpm.
SL: 67-71 mph. Sharp slider when he throws it out front, backs up when arm is late. T2348, 2276 average rpm.
CH: 73-74 mph. CH has arm side fade and diving action, quality pitch. T1477, 1453 average rpm.

Wyatt Clewett, Montgomery, 2026
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP Clewett is has a projectable frame, and shows the ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball.
Body: 6-4, 170-pounds.
Delivery: Athletic delivery, stays closed down the slope.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm swing working at a high 3/4 slot.
FB: T82, 81-82 mph. Has ride through zone allowing him to pitch up or down in zone. T2247, 2077 average rpm.
CB: 70-70 mph. Big breaker with depth, can play for strikes and chase. T2011, 1965 average rpm.
CH: 74-76 mph. Shows arm side action and drop, good pitch for strikes or chase. T2220, 2119 average rpm.

Paxton Dagley, Foster, 2025
Positional Profile: 2B/RHP Dagley is a solid contact bat who can play almost any position on the field.
Body: 5-11, 150-pounds.
Delivery: Clean mechanics and a simple delivery down the slope.
Arm Action: RH. High 3/4 slot with clean arm action.
FB: T80, 79-80 mph. Throws a fastball with good downhill action. T2115, 1947 average rpm.
CB: 67-68 mph. Sharp, tight breaking shape that plays off the FB well. T2256, 2225 average rpm.
CH: 68-69 mph. Has good arm side action, plays well against righties and lefties. T1543, 1333 average rpm.

Coen Devillier, Jacksonville, 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/C Devillier is a strong righty with a plus sweeping slider that tunnels well with the FB. Will make solid pick up.
Body: 6-1, 190-pounds.
Delivery: High effort and athletic delivery.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm swing and high 3/4 arm slot.
FB: T84, 83-84 mph. FB has late movement to the arm side. T2174, 2084 average rpm.
SL: 72-76 mph. SL has late breaking, sweeping action. T2376, 2286 average rpm.
CH: 77-78 mph. CH is a firm and straight change, with a little fade late. T1669, 1598 average rpm.

Jacob Gardner, Foster, 2025
Positional Profile: RHP/1B Gardner is an athletic looking sophomore who shows feel for 4 pitches. As he gets stronger and gains velocity, he will continue to take off.
Body: 6-1, 175-pounds.
Delivery: Standard wind up and release.
Arm Action: RH. Works from a low 3/4 slot.
FB: T75, 72-75 mph. Showed ability to throw fastball to both sides of plate. T2022, 1955 average rpm.
CB: 58-63 mph. Stays in FB tunnel late, was able to land it for strikes. T1979, 1952 average rpm.
SL: 62-65 mph. Higher spin of his two breakers, late action, more of a hase pitch. T2137, 2061 average rpm.
CH: 64-66 mph. Has arm side action that can play off the FB. T1697, 1575 average rpm.

Ethan Hackenbruch, Atascocita, 2025
Positional Profile: RHP/SS Hackenbruch can be a contact guy at next level as a hitter, also shows feel for 3/4 pitches on mound.
Body: 5-11, 155-pounds.
Delivery: Standard windup, high effort delivery.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm swing, high 3/4 slot.
FB: T82, 81-82 mph. Throws a downhill FB, has some arm side action. T2179, 2115 average rpm.
CB: 63-68 mph. Slurvy, Tight break, stays in FB tunnel. T2010, 1995 average rpm.
SL: 66-69 mph. Very similar to CB, tight and slurvyish. T2159, 2096 average rpm.
CH: 72-74 mph. CH has decent arm side movement. T1628, 1576 average rpm.

Kaden Hurt, Sweeney, 2024
Positional Profile: 2B/OF Hurt shows good feel for his barrel at the plate and a 3 pitch mix for strikes on the mound.
Body: 5-11, 165-pounds.
Delivery: Standard wind up, really drives off back leg hard.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action, high 3/4 slot.
FB: T84, 83-84 mph. Showed FB command to both sides of the plate. Has some run on the arm side. T1890, 1739 average rpm.
CB: 70-71 mph. Inconsistent at times, when release is synced shows ability to land for strikes. T1952, 1902 average rpm.
CH: 75-79 mph. Shows ability to throw it for low strikes, arm side action at times. T1908, 1653 average rpm.

Davin Luck, Grand Oaks, 2024
Positional Profile: OF/3B Luck is a 2 way player featuring a 3 pitch mix that tunnels very well and a really flat swing plane that produces gap to gap power.
Body: 6-0, 170-pounds.
Delivery: Drop and drive delivery, high effort.
Arm Action: RH. Really short arm action from a high 3/4 slot.
FB: T79, 77-78 mph. FB movement will allow him to pitch up or down in the zone. T1916, 1816 average rpm.
SL: 65-68 mph. Holds FB plane and late breaking sweeper. T1983, 1929 average rpm.
CH: 70-74 mph. CH has some late drop, can provide S/M or weak contact. T1775, 1351 average rpm.

Aiden Poirier, Foster, 2025
Positional Profile: SS/RHP The sophomore 2 way showed command for 3 pitches, a plus infield arm and consistent barrel skills at the plate.
Body: 5-11, 165-pounds.
Delivery: Simple and clean delivery, hides ball well.
Arm Action: RH. Really short arm action, low 3/4 slot.
FB: T84, 82-84 mph. FB shows arm side run, showed ability to throw it to both sides of the plate. T2098, 1995 average rpm.
CB: 67-68 mph. CB showed slurvy action with good movement. T2145, 2145 average rpm.
CH: 76-76 mph. CH shows some arm side action with a little drop to it at times. T1790, 1790 average rpm.

Austin Reed, St. Francis Episcopal, 2025
Positional Profile: C/RHP Reed is a talented 2 way who shows pullside power and a strong FB/SL mix. Looked really good behind the plate.
Body: 5-9, 165-pounds.
Delivery: Simple windup, athletic down slope.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm swing, over the top slot.
FB: T81, 79-80 mph. FB has ride through zone allowing him to pitch up, heavy tilt when down in zone. T2142, 1963 average rpm.
SL: 68-70 mph. Stays in FB tunnel late, sharp break. T2328, 2305 average rpm

Aidan Rucker, Atascocita, 2025
Positional Profile: 1B/RHP The junior 2 way showed consistent contact at the plate and a 3 pitch mix on the mound.
Body: 6-2, 170-pounds.
Delivery: Stretch only, stays closed down slope.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action, over the top slot.
FB: T77, 75-77 mph. Fb has downhill action when down in zone. T2384, 2228 average rpm.

Nathan Schomburg, Cypress Park, 2025
Positional Profile: RHP/3B Schomburg has a projectable frame and shows feel for 3 quality pitches on the mound, and finds consistent contact at the plate. Really like the upside on the mound.
Body: 6-2, 150-pounds.
Delivery: Worked strictly from the stretch, clean mechanics.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action, high 3/4 slot.
FB: T84, 82-83 mph. FB showed good tilt and downhill action when down in zone. T2125, 2009 average rpm.

Owen Sherrill, St. John;s School, 2025
Positional Profile: C/RHP Sherrill showed feel for 3 quality pitches on the mound and a high energy swing with pullside power.
Body: 6-0, 212-pounds.
Delivery: Athletic windup, creates deception with head movement.
Arm Action: RH. Short arm action from over the top slot.
FB: T83, 81-83 mph. FB shows ride up in zone, downhill tilt when down in zone. T1942, 1874 average rpm.
CB: 66-67 mph. CB shows good sharp break, stays in FB tunnel till late. T2148, 2014 average rpm.

Jack Stanger, St. John's, 2026
Positional Profile: C/RHP Big projectable 2 way freshman shows feel for 3 quality pitches on mound with more velo to come, and a swing that produced pullside power with more to come as well.
Body: 6-0, 175-pounds.
Delivery: Standard wind up, looks slow and controlled.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action, high over the top slot.
FB: T81, 78-80 mph. FB shows downhill tilt, can also pitch up in zone. T1962, 1801 average rpm.
CB: 65-68 mph. CB showssharp break, plays off FB well. T2251, 1567 average rpm.
CH: 66-69 mph. Although he slows his arm down on CH, it shows good movement. T1464, 1302 average rpm.

Brandon Stewart, Sweeney, 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/3B Stewart shows high end ability at the plate and a feel for 3 quality pitches on the mound.
Body: 6-1, 210-pounds.
Delivery: Standard windup, high energy/effort.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action, high over the top slot.
FB: T86, 83-85 mph. FB has downhill tilt, plays heavy. T1991, 1901 average rpm.
CB: 67-70 mph. CB showed sharp vertical break. T2386, 2255 average rpm.
SL: 73-73 mph. Harder of his 2 BB, shows sweeping action. T2035, 2035 average rpm.
CH: 75-76 mph. Throws CH with confidence, good armspeed and deceptive. T1699, 1670 average rpm.

Brody Thomas, Concordia Lutheran, 2026
Positional Profile: SS/RHP Thomas showed good hands at the plate and in the field. On the mound he showed promising stuff that could become dominant when he fills out and gets stronger with velo to come.
Body: 5-9, 140-pounds.
Delivery: Standard windup, stays athletic throughout delivery.
Arm Action: RH. Works from a high slot almost over the top.
FB: T77, 74-77 mph. Really high spin FB, can pitch up in the zone, has ride and life. T2217, 2128 average rpm.
CB: 60-64 mph. CB showed slurvy shape, had high spin. T2231, 2099 average rpm.
CH: 65-71 mph. Shows arm side action and drop. T2124, 1839 average rpm.

Angelo Volante, Atascocita, 2025
Positional Profile: OF/2B Volante showed to be a good athlete and defender, with a solid 3 pitch mix on the mound. Just a ballplayer.
Body: 5-7, 142-pounds.
Delivery: Standard windup, also showed very comfortable in the stretch.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm, high 3/4 slot.
FB: T79, 77-78 mph. Fb sometimes shows armside run, plays up in zone as well. T2017, 1914 average rpm.
CB: 65-67 mph. CB showed sharp vertical break, quality chase pitch. T2285, 2223 average rpm.
CH: 71-71 mph. CH has lots of vertical break, plus pitch for chase and weak contact. T1477, 1432 average rpm.
