On Saturday, January 7th, the PBR Texas Staff traveled to Weatherford College to host the Houston Preseason ID. The event featured prospects of all HS classes from around the state and provided our staff an ample look at every player in attendance.

We continue the analysis from the event with a look at all of the infielders. We broke down the top-five infielders on the day followed by the rest in attendance.

1. Marcus Cantu, Lutheran South, 2026
Positional Profile: SS/OF Cantu is an extremely talented player who could have 5 elite tools as he continues to develop and fill out. Has a natural feel for the game on the field, and will be fun to watch the next 4 years.
Body: 5-9, 165-pounds.
Hits: LHH. 50/50 set up, leg kick load. Hands drop with load to allow him to lift up throw the ball at contact, gets on plane early.
Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 78.4 MPH. 333' max distance. Gets on plane early with natural lift, and pulls the ball with authority.
Arm: RH. INF-85 mph.OF-89 mph. short and quick arm action that generates plenty of velo.
Defense: feet and arm will allow him to play anywhere on the field.
Run: 6.91 runner in the 60.

2. Wyatt Clewett, Montgomery, 2026
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP Clewett is has a projectable frame, and shows the ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball.
Body: 6-4, 170-pounds.
Hits: LHH. wide 60/40 stance with front foot open, steps even with load. Hands start high and get on plane early staying on plane through the zone.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 82.1 MPH. 312' max distance. Very projectable frame who generates a lot of hard contact. More power coming for this 6'4 170 lb freshman.
Arm: RH. INF-82 mph.Clean arm action delivering accurate throws.
Defense: Stays athletic, should improve as he grows into his body more.

3. Caden Baker, Houston Stratford, 2024
Positional Profile: SS/OF Baker is a great athlete who shows above avg. tools across the board. George Mason Commit.
Body: 5-8, 160-pounds.
Hits: LHH. 50/50 set up, rocks back for load. Hands drop and work up through the ball at contact.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 78.6 MPH. 321' max distance. Makes hard contact with really quick hands.
Arm: RH. INF-84 mph.OF-89 mph. Shows a strong arm that plays anywhere on the field.
Defense: His speed and footwork will keep him at a premier position likely SS/CF.

4. Aiden Poirier, Foster, 2025
Positional Profile: SS/RHP The sophomore 2 way showed command for 3 pitches, a plus infield arm and consistent barrel skills at the plate.

Hits: RHH. 50/50 stance, simple load. Hands start high and rip down low to get on plane early.
Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 79.8 MPH. 254' max distance. Gets on plane early, stays through the ball, consistent hard contact.

5. Jaime Lopez, PSJA, 2024
Positional Profile: SS/RHP Lopez is a plus runner and defender who creates some leverage at the plate, as he fills out he could have above avg. tools across the board.

Hits: RHH. Tall 50/50 stance, simple load. Starts with hands high and gets on plane early, stays flat through the zone.

Adam Alvarez, Hebron, 2026
Positional Profile: SS/RHP Alvarez is an athletic freshmen who will be fun to watch develop on both sides of the ball as he continues to grow and fill out.
Body: 5-3, 139-pounds.
Hits: LHH. Tall 50/50 set up. Uses leg kick for timing mechanism. Hands start high by ears and work down to the ball at contact.
Power: 84 max exit velocity, averaged 78.1 MPH. 303' max distance. Good hands and bat path, power and consistent contact will come as he gets stronger.
Arm: RH. INF-79 mph.Solid, accurate arm with good carry. Will continue to get better with strength.
Defense: Feet and hands are above average, can stay up the middle.

Coltan Blossom, St. John's, 2026
Positional Profile: RHP/3B Blossom is an exciting freshman 2 way to keep an eye on who could end up having solid power as he continues to grow and fill out.
Body: 6-0, 160-pounds.
Hits: RHH. 60/40 set up low leg kick load. Hands start high in his load and work down to the ball generating some lift.
Power: 84 max exit velocity, averaged 75 MPH. 308' max distance. Swing produces backspin and power will come as he fills out.
Arm: RH. INF-78 mph.short arm swing, gets ball out fast.
Defense: below average footwork, likely a corner INF in future.
Run: 7.70 runner in the 60.

Trenton Buckley, Magnolia West, 2024
Positional Profile: SS/RHP Buckley has a big league arm talent and big raw power at the plate. As he continues to get into the power in games, Buckley's stock will continue to trend up.

Hits: RHH. 60/40 set up, heel lift for load. Hands drop at end of load allowing him to work up through the ball creating lift.

Positional Profile: SS/2B Gonzales showed solid tools across the board, and will be interesting to keep an eye on as he grows into his body more.

Hits: RHH. 50/50 set up with a very minimal load. Drops the hands to get on plane early, plenty of backspin.
Power: 82 max exit velocity, averaged 74.5 MPH. 291' max distance. Able to find consistent barrels and be on plane through the zone. Potential for more EV/ Power as he grows and fills out at only 5'8 145.

Defense: has good footwork and fundamentals, shifts weight into all throws.

Positional Profile: SS/C Graham showed good baseball IQ and good actions, as he gets stronger his profile will continue to raise.

Positional Profile: OF/SS Harrison is a decent athlete who can play most positions on the field, will be interesting to watch for developing power as he fills out.
