Lebanon, TN - The Tennessee State Games was held on September 17th and 18th at Friendship Christian School in Lebanon, TN. This event was an open event that consisted of prospects from the 2023-2026 classes. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman and Blast Motion, participated in defensive evaluations, ran the 60 yard-dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated outings during gameplay and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Sunday.

Continuing our post-event coverage for the event, we take a look at the individual scouting reports for each catcher and outfielder in attendance. Keep checking back as we will continue to release post-event content, including scouting reports on all pitchers and infielders at the event.

Catchers

Tyler Wilson, C/RHP, MTCS, 2024
Body: 5-10, 145-pounds. Small, narrow frame w/ limited strength
Hit: RHH. Tall, balanced stance w/ small keg kick and compact bat tip load. Level sweep of zone w/ above average bat speed and solid rotation into two handed finish. Looks to hook to pull side.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 76.3 mph. 318' max distance. Flashes of some pop, but lacks consistent barrels.
Arm: RH. C-78 mph. Short, compact arm action w/ drawback and good carry on throws.
Defense: 2.14-2.22 pop times. Sound setup defensively w/ consistent transfers. All around solid defender w/ best tool being the arm strength.
Run: 7.50 runner in the 60. 

 

Victor Mitchell, C/OF, Gallatin, 2023 
Body: 5-8, 160-pounds. Small, lean frame w/ athletcism and tight core.
Hit: LHH. Slightly crouched stance w/ hands by ear and bat wiggle. Minimal hand load and small leg kick w/ stiff lower half. Generates average bat speed w/ handsy level plane. Rotational core with limited drive to front side. Maintains plane leading to consistent contact.
Power: 89 max exit velocity, averaged 81.4 mph. 321' max distance. Line drive hitter, spraying to all fields.
Arm: RH. C-72 mph. Compact, straight from the ear w/ average arm strength and good accuracy on throws.
Defense: 2.27-2.34 pop times. Wide base w/ good glove presentation and solid blocker. Clean but sluggish transfers while keeping throws around the bag. 
Run: 7.23 runner in the 60. 

 

Nathan Burger, C, Hendersonville, 2024
Body: 5-10, 190-pounds. Round build w/ thick lower half and some strength.
Hit: RHH. Relaxed, balanced setup w/ preset hands and lays the barrel back. Small stride into good drive to front side. Short stroke to ball. Swings with hands and chest w/ in and out plane and high finish. Controls the barrel throughout swing.
Power: 84 max exit velocity, averaged 78.5 mph. 285' max distance. Limited power projection, but contact focused approach.
Arm: RH. C-69 mph. Compact from the ear action w/ long follow through and some effort. Lacks arm strength but solid accuracy.
Defense: 2.33-2.38 pop times. Staggered setup w/ sluggish feet and transfers. Average receiver and blocker.
Run: 8.59 runner in the 60. 

 

Reagan McCluskey, C, CPA, 2025
Intriguing young backstop to follow, lacks some athletcism but strength and bat carry him early. 
Body: 5-11, 210-pounds. Thick, wide frame w/ good strength in lower half. 
Hit: RHH. Narrow, slightly open setup w/ relaxed hands. Leg kick w/ bat tip load. Generates average bat speed w/ uphill plane and strength off the barrel. Tends to dive w/ middle to pullside approach.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 83.2 mph. 338' max distance. Gap power to project. More consistent hard contact w/ better plane and improved bat speed.
Arm: RH. C-73 mph. Short quick arm action w/ solid arm strength and decent accuracy.
Defense: 2.19-2.25 pop times. Wide base w/ good pre-pitch actions working up through the ball on receiving. Looks to be a solid defender w/ good hands and quick transfers. 
Run: 7.81 runner in the 60. 

 

Cash Pinson, C, Knights Academy, 2025
A steady improver w/ a well rounded game and more room to develop.
Body: 5-11, 160-pounds. Lean, narrow build w/ room to add strength.
Hit: RHH. Tall, narrow stance w/ loose hands setup. Small leg kick w/ bat tip load. Generates average bat speed w/ direct stroke to ball. Length to stride & lets the hands work. Uphill plane into high two handed finish.
Power: 86 max exit velocity, averaged 78.7 mph. 290' max distance. Line drive spray w/ developing pull side power.
Arm: RH. C-74 mph. Quick from the ear action w/ good arm strength and average accuracy.
Defense: 2.10-2.20 pop times. Low, staggered setup w/ good target presentation. Soft hands and quick transfers. 
Run: 7.99 runner in the 60. 

 

Korbin Reynolds, C, Clarksville, 2025
Big winner from the event, showing huge upside w/ top tier arm strength and bat speed. 
Body: 5-10, 180-pounds. Proportional frame w/ strength and wide shoulders.
Hit: RHH. Wide, balanced stance w/ quick toe tap and slight hitch in load. Stays compact. Shows great bat speed and strength w/ good rotation. Whips barrel through the zone w/ uphill plane into strong two handed finish. 
Power: 95 max exit velocity, averaged 86.6 mph. 346' max distance. Bat speed to dream on with more power to come. 
Arm: RH. C-79 mph. Short, quick arm w/ outstanding arm strength and carry. Keeps throws around the bag.
Defense: 1.95-2.02 pop times. Staggered, high stance w/ solid transfers and release. Solid hands/receiving and will throw the body around on blocks. 
Run: 7.18 runner in the 60. 

 

Jameson Van Ness, C, CAK, 2024
Body: 6-2, 185-pounds. Narrow, slender upper half w/ sturdy lower half & strength.
Hit: RHH. Crouched stance w/ wide base. Small leg kick and corks hands in load w/ bat tip. Generates above average bat speed w/ uphill plane into high two handed finish. Collapses on back side while spraying line drives middle to pullside. 
Power: 85 max exit velocity, averaged 74.8 mph. 286' max distance. Gap power potential w/ clean up in load and plane efficiency. 
Arm: RH. C-75 mph. Short from the ear action w/ some stiffness, but above average arm strength.
Defense: 2.15-2.20 pop times. Squared setup, rawness in receiving w/ ok hands. Length in transfers and effort on throws. 
Run: 7.73 runner in the 60. 

 

Bradley Wiesner, C, Summertown, 2023
Body: 6-0, 200-pounds. Proportional stocky frame w/ strength thoughout.
Hit: RHH. Crouched, slightly closed stance w/ wide base. Presets hands and no stride to keep things simple. Generates above average bat speed w/ level path & direct to ball. Handsy upper half swing but lot of hard line drives w/ pull to middle approach.
Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 83.5 mph. 344' max distance. Showing steady improvement in power.
Arm: RH. C-73 mph. Compact arm action w/ some stiffness but solid arm strength and accuracy.
Defense: 2.20-2.28 pop times. Staggered setup, presents good low target, and solid receiving .
Run: 8.23 runner in the 60. 

 

Kenny Cox, C, ECS, 2023 (Committed to Walters St CC)
Well rounded backstop senior prospect w/ high floor and some thump at the plate. 
Body: 6-1, 220-pounds. Thick, muscular build w/ strength in quads & blocky shoulers.
Hit: RHH. Slightly open stance w/ relaxed hands. Big coil leg kick w/ compact load. Generates above average bat speed, muscling the ball to pull side. Body creates the pop while guiding the hands to the ball. Level path through the zone into one hand finish.
Power: 95 max exit velocity, averaged 78.7 mph. 353' max distance. Strong through the zone w/ gap power but limited future projection.
Arm: RH. C-71 mph. Tight, compact arm action w/ ok arm strength but quickness and accuracy allows it to play up. 
Defense: 2.07-2.15 pop times. Staggered setup, speedy transfers and gets the ball quickly. Well rounded defender w/ sound blocking. 
Run: 7.45 runner in the 60. 

 

Outfielders

Gavin Petrocci, OF, Pope John Paul II, 2026
Body: 5-10, 145-pounds. Lean, young frame w/ room to add strength
Hit: RHH. Wide base w/ relaxed knees & soft rhythm in hands. Minimal leg kick w/ bat tip load. Generates above average bat speed & short direct to ball. Level path thru zone, often late and inconsistent barrels.
Power: 81 max exit velocity, averaged 73.9 mph. 292' max distance. More pop to come, lacks overall strength but plenty of time to develop.
Arm: RH. OF-77 mph. Long action up to 3/4 slot w/ average arm strength & more in the tank.
Defense: Solid defender as corner guy, consistent foot work and good transfers. 
Run: 7.73 runner in the 60. 

 

Adam Gordon, OF, Friendship Christian, 2024
Body: 5-10, 165-pounds. Short, toned frame w/ developing muscular build & limited projection.
Hit: RHH. Upright, slightly open stance w/ good balance. Quick, coil leg kick while letting the hands drift back. Generates slightly above average bat speed w/ level bat path and good rotation. Consistency in the swing working into strong two handed finish.
Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 81.4 mph. 296' max distance. Line drive approach w/ limited power projection.
Arm: RH. OF-80 mph. Short, compact arm action w/ quickness at 3/4 slot. Solid arm strength.
Defense: Fluid transfers w/ solid range. Sound footwork and stays behind the ball. Profiles in the corners.
Run: 7.33 runner in the 60. 

 

Jack Wyatt, OF, Clarksville, 2025
Certainly raised his profile, young switch hitter w/ feel for barrel and just picked up hits in bunches during gameplay. 
Body: 6-0, 155-pounds. Narrow, slender build w/ athleticism & good porjection to build.
Hit: SH. Similar relaxed stance from both side w/ balanced base. Minimal leg kick w/ simple load. Generates average bat speed w/ uphill plane & high finish. Pull to middle approach, looking to lift the ball into the gap. Favored the left side.
Power: 84 max exit velocity, averaged 77.5 mph. 305' max distance. Lacks pure power, more to come as frame develops more strength.
Arm: RH. OF-79 mph. Short arm action w/ quick release at H 3/4 slot & solid arm strength.
Defense: Some rawness in the outfield, but athleticism balances it out. Corner projection w/ CF potential.
Run: 7.50 runner in the 60. 

 

Liam Kohler, OF, Hillsboro, 2024
Body: 5-11, 165-pounds. Lean, narrow frame w/ some room to add strength.
Hit: RHH. Wide, low base w/ tiny step stride and lets hands drift. Closes off and then flies front side. Generates slightly above average bat speed w/ level bat drag thru zone. Strong rotation data w/ flash of whip in hips, but inconsistent barrel. 
Power: 85 max exit velocity, averaged 71.3 mph. 310' max distance. Line drive hitter, middle to pull approach.
Arm: RH. OF-75 mph. Long, stabby action working up to 3/4 slot w/ below average arm strength & some stiffness.
Defense: Average actions w/ big crow hop. Solid range, profiling best as LF in future.
Run: 7.41 runner in the 60. 

 

Ben Imlay, RHP/OF, Knights Academy, 2025
Body: 6-2, 185-pounds. Tall, lean frame w/ narrow shoulders and wiry legs. 
Hit: RHH. Wide, upright stance w/ small leg kick and wrap load. Generates great bat speed w/ uphill plane and two handed finish. Pull side gap approach w/ line drives and flashes of pull power. 
Power: 93 max exit velocity, averaged 82.9 mph. 342' max distance. Flashes of pop, but lot of hard line drives.
Arm: RH. OF-80 mph. Long, fluid arm action up to low 3/4 slot w/ solid arm strength.
Defense: Average defensively w/ solid speed and range. Simple footwork tracking the ball. 
Run: 7.33 runner in the 60. 

 

Landon Smelser, OF, Science Hill, 2024
Top 80 prospect in the class, making steady improvements to well rounded game. 
Body: 6-1, 175-pounds. Tall, lean, narrow frame w/ good projection to build & athleticism.
Hit: LHH. Slightly open, crouched stance w/ small leg kick and slight hand load. Generates great bat speed while sequencing well and maintaining plane. Level swing thru the zone, spraying it around w/ pull side approach.
Power: 89 max exit velocity, averaged 79.5 mph. 307' max distance. Line drive hitter w/ flashes of gap pop and future projection.
Arm: LH. OF-82 mph. Fair arm speed w/ stabby drag action at 3/4 slot. 
Defense: Solid transfers and above average range. Light feet and moves well, profiles best in corner spot.
Run: 7.16 runner in the 60. 

 

Hudson Susano, OF, Brentwood Academy, 2024
Well rounded 2024 prospect who is still scratching the surface w/ pop and arm strength.
Body: 6-0, 190-pounds. Lean, athletic frame w/ broad back and good projection to build.
Hit: RHH. Tall, upright stance w/ some stiffness. Small leg kick and bat tip load w/ slight wrap. Generates great bat speed w/ rotational quickness. Works around the zone into high finish and maintains barrel control w/ middle to pull approach.
Power: 96 max exit velocity, averaged 84.3 mph. 344' max distance. Consistent hard contact w/ flashes of power potential.
Arm: RH. OF-86 mph. Short, quick arm action at H 3/4 slot w/ arm strength and carry.
Defense: Solid defender w/ good footwork and fielding it out front. Above average range, profiles as corner OF.
Run: 7.19 runner in the 60. 

 

Eli Potter, OF/LHP, Dickson County, 2024
Steady Eddie making slight improvements w/ two way upside.
Body: 5-11, 155-pounds. Lean, average frame w/ limited projection. 
Hit: LHH. Narrow, open stance w/ some stiffness. Sets barrel behind head w/ lot of load movement and small leg kick. Generates above average bat speed w/ line drive spray approach. Level swing path thru the zone into even one handed finish. More consistent barrels.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 82.7 mph. 328' max distance. Improving barrel percentage as line drive hitter w/ some pop projection.
Arm: LH. OF-78 mph. Long, drawback and release at H 3/4 slot.
Defense: Average defender, choppy steps and long crow hop w/ pat transfers. Solid runner, profiles in the corners.
Run: 7.50 runner in the 60. 

 

Bishop Quarles, OF, Goodpasture, 2024 (Ohio State Commit)
One of the top players in the 2024 class put together a strong showing and still just scratching the surface of his potential.
Body: 5-11, 165-pounds. Lean, athletic frame w/ room to add mass. 
Hit: LHH. Relaxed, balanced stance w/ strong base & soft rhythm in hands. Compact load w/ small leg kick. Controls barrel through contact, slightly above average bat speed w/ uphill plane. Spray gap to gap, showing feel for approach in BP & more barrel consistency. 
Power: 91 max exit velocity, averaged 86.6 mph. 332' max distance. Present gap power & more power to project w/ strength.
Arm: LH. OF-90 mph. Fluid, whippy arm from H 3/4 slot w/ good arm strength and carry.
Defense: Tracks it and sets up the ball well w/ easy range into the gaps. Skilled CF profile defensively. 
Run: 6.94 runner in the 60. Easy runner, glides in the outfield.

 

Nolan Maloney, OF, Grace Christian Academy, 2025
One of the best runners in the TN class, steady improvements as switch hitter, lacking arm strength defensively.
Body: 6-0, 160-pounds. Lean, athletic frame w/ room to add mass. 
Hit: SH. Balanced, wide base stance w/ hands set by ears. Minimal stride and hand load, to maintain timing. Generates good bat speed w/ level bat path & middle approach spray. Rotates well w/ hand spin. More balance from both sides, but leans more LHH.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 77.5 mph. 295' max distance. Line drive, table setter bat w/ some projection.
Arm: RH. OF-71 mph. Floppy arm action w/ drag and lacking arm strength.
Defense: Sound defender w/ great speed and range. Consistent footwork, profiles as CF/LF.
Run: 6.69 runner in the 60. Easy runner

 

Brody Prairie, OF/LHP, Rossview, 2024
LHH just outside the top 100, showing signs of improvement and upside.
Body: 6-2, 175-pounds. Tall, lean frame w/ long torso & slender lower half.
Hit: LHH. Balanced, crouched stance w/ preset hands. Toe tap stride w/ simple load, getting good head/hand separation. Generates great bat speed w/ uphill plane and high two handed finish. Middle approach w/ lot of line drives.
Power: 91 max exit velocity, averaged 83.8 mph. 346' max distance. Line drive hitter, but some power to project w/ better plane and more strength.
Arm: LH. OF-82 mph. Long, wrap arm action working up to H 3/4 slot w/ above average arm strength & more in the tank.
Defense: Fundamental thru the ball, good feel for tracking the ball down. Profiles as corner OF.
Run: 7.43 runner in the 60.
