The 2021 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. That excitement may be at an all-time high entering this high school season as the 2020 high school baseball season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season during an offseason unlike any other and as always, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at the TSSAA Spring Fling state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams.
We start diving into the Preseason Power 25 Rankings, highlighting some of the deepest clubs across the state. Although we could have done 40+ clubs with so many talented teams getting tuned up for the 2021 season, we can only rank 25 and this list will continue to change as the season plays out on the field. There will be teams not on the list that will be battling for a state championship come late May, so take it for what it's worth, as no championships have ever been won on paper.
*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Outlook:
The Mustangs have been as consistent as they come regularly towards the top of district 15 with a string of sub state appearances with their last state tournament showing in 2017. Houston lost their top arm in graduated Grayson Hitt (Alabama), but have a formidable convoy of arms lead by Sr. LHP Miller Riggins (Kennesaw St). Riggins features a mid to upper 80s FB and feel for his secondary after making a significant jump over the summer leading up to his commitment. Behind him will be Jr. RHP Brady Jones and RHP Connor Weaks as we expect both of them to be mid to upper 80s arms with high ceilings and a big campaign in front of them in 2021. Positionally, Houston is led by Sr. OF Pierre Seals, who has remained very patient in recruiting process and will be the top uncommitted senior as the season opens up next week. Seals has great physicality and the ball can jump off the barrel, as he heads into Spring looking to secure a spot at the next level. LHH OF RH Frankland has a solid frame and will look to help drive in runs for the Mustangs, and will also be uncommitted as Spring opens up. Uncommitted senior OF/RHP Walt Sieggreen has shown great athleticism and has the potential to contribute both in the OF and on the bump. This is a deep, well balanced roster and will potentially get contributors from each class. JRs. OF Walker Enck, C Jesse Dalton, and OF Tyler Kamler will look to get in the mix along with '23 RHP Dean McCalla which has been in the mid 80s as a very solid fourth option on the mound. Two freshman broke the varsity roster with SS Robinson Martin and UTL Donovan Mitchell, look for them to get their feet wet this season. I'd expect this Houston club will be one of the most easily recruitable clubs come season due to a variety of skilled uncommitted position players and arms that are still available. The Mustangs will certainly be in the mix coming out of the West, and look to break through and get back to the Spring Fling in late May.
Best of luck this season!
