On Saturday, we headed to Friendship Christian to see an elimination game between USJ and CAK.  CAK won it 4-2 and advance to play Friendship Christian in a best 2 of 3 series later this week.  Read up on standouts below, including 2019 LHP/DH Jacob Tate, who struck out 7 and had a 94 exit velocity:

JACOB TATE / LHP / 1B / CHRISTIAN ACADEMY OF KNOXVILLE, TN / 2019

FB (80-86), CB (64-68), CH (66)

-          1-3

-          6.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 7 K

Kentucky commit did not allow his first hit until the 6th inning while also picking up a hit himself that left the bat at 94.  XL tall, athletic frame w/ some present lower half strength, super projectable.  Pitches from a full wind-up w/ pre-set back foot and shoulders creating a straight line to home plate into H ¾ release from the 3rd base side of the rubber.  Extension, ball gets on you.  Low effort throw.  Long arm action.  Simple, repeatable delivery.  Straight FB shows occasional short arm-side run.  Slows arm down on both secondary offerings.  Medium downer CB w/ proper shape and rotation.  Pulled the only CH he threw and hit a batter on this day.  Strike-thrower with the FB, 62 of 90 for strikes.  Will have spurts where he loses the zone and not get his arm on time, tendency to miss to his arm-side.  Projects to command.  Offensively, shows bat speed through the zone w/ some natural loft and whip.  Pull oriented approach, hammered a line drive single to RF and was robbed of extra bases by Sammons in CF in another at bat.  Has found a lot of barrels when we have seen him in the past, advanced control of his long limbs in the box.
