FB (84-87, T89), CB (66-69) - 5.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K Uncommitted 6-6, 190-pound righty showcased an improved breaking ball to go with projection and present FB velocity. XL tall, athletic w/ some present lower half strength, super projectable, has just scratched the surface of his frame potential. Pitches from a full wind-up into ¾ to H ¾ release from the middle of the rubber. Learning to control his lower half, stay strong with his front side, glove. Extension w/ angle, occasional downhill plane. Learning to repeat his delivery every time, getting a feel for his long limbs. Athletic enough to repeat, just needs reps. FB shows occasional arm side run, gets on you as a hitter. Big downer CB comes up out of hand, flashes late bite, depth. Pitch to steal a strike at this stage of his development. Has taken a big step forward from last year. Around the zone with his stuff, more control than command, has an understanding of how to subtract to get into the strike zone. Tools to command as refines delivery. High-upside RHP. |
