CAK's Jacob Tate named PBR Tennessee Player Of The Year

The 2019 spring high school season in Tennessee generated some incredible individual moments and performances throughout all corners of the state. As the spring high school season comes to a close, Prep Baseball Report is excited to announce one player who emerged ahead of the competition at all levels in the state of Tennessee. This player has been selected not only for their outstanding statistical numbers, but also for their overall effect on their high school program.
JACOB TATE, a senior left-handed pitcher and first baseman, produced in every facet of the game in helping to lead his team to a State Title. The 6-foot-7, 225-pounder is headed to the University of Kentucky following an impressive high school career.
On the mound this season for Christian Academy of Knoxville, Tate went undefeated in compiling a 12-0 record. In 76.1 IP, he racked up 116 strikeouts while compiling a 0.91 ERA and allowing opponents to hit a measly .156 against him. As if that weren’t enough, Tate also was key in the middle of the CAK lineup as he hit .343 with 16 doubles, 8 home runs, and 51 RBI’s.
Tate’s all-around performance, as well as the impact he has had on the CAK baseball program, has earned him the 2019 Prep Baseball Report Tennessee Player of the Year honors.
Jacob Tate has been selected by the team of Prep Baseball Report Tennessee scouts who covered the high school baseball season throughout the spring. Tate was selected amongst a strong group of candidates from across the state.
