PBR CANADA MIZUNO PROSPECTS OF THE WEEK
BRITISH COLUMBIA
Kyle Hepburn C / 1B / Steveston London, BC / 2022Rankings StateRank: 8 / POS: 1
Hepburn, a 6’1 215lbs C/1B for the Delta Blue Jays is one of the more physical bats in his class. At the plate the body stands out with a built athletic frame that projects well. The set up is clean and twitchy while staying in his legs till contact. Uses his whole body to generate bat speed towards the baseball. Has been up to 102.8mph exit velocity recently in Panama City. Behind the plate Hepburn has a lot of tools to work with. The arm is short and quick with good life on it, being up to 82mph. Has shown quality receiving and footwork behind the plate that will transition nicely at Johnson County CC next season.

ONTARIO
Evan Arnold SS / 2B / Blessed Trinity, WI / 2024Rankings StateRank: 8 / POS: 3
Arnold, a 5’10 145lbs MIF for the Fieldhouse Pirates has lots to like about his play on both sides of the field. At the plate the hands work well with a consistent hand path towards the baseball. Does not have too much moving parts in the swing. Looks to work gap to gap with ability to hit the ball on the line. Up the Middle the hands work out front with a quick transfer out of the glove. The footwork is short and quick staying low and in his legs. Expect the body to fill out in the coming years. Will be an interesting name for college programs to look at for their lineup.

ATLANTIC
Rory MacDonald RHP / 3B / Citadel, NS / 2024Macdonald, a 5’10 190lbs RHP/3B for the Nova Scotia Selects program is an intriguing arm who showcased well recently at the New Year Open. On the mound the arm is long and loose with a ¾ arm slot. Has quality movement on all his pitches working with a 3-pitch mix with a fastball that has been up to 83mph. The arm slot is interesting with his long arms it is tough to read out of the hand for hitters. In the field Macdonald uses his feet well moving side to side with good momentum behind his throws. At the plate the set up is loaded with good extension on contact. Does not look to get cheated with a lot of loud barrels recently at the New Year Open.

QUEBEC
Philippe Hamelin OF / 1B / Seminaire St Francois , QC / 2023Hamelin, a 5’10 155lbs OF/1B for the ABC Académie program is a very projectable bat from the left side. At the plate the swing is geared towards the pull side. Has shown to have some pop in his bat. The swing is very compact with good weight transfer from his back leg. Has a quite load with the ability to generate quick bat speed. In the outfield the arm stands out with a quick loose arm. Has been up to 85Mph recently and expect that to keep improving as the body continues to fill out.
