Connor Ollio , a North Carolina commit currently ranked No. 4 in the PA 2018 rankings, handcuffed the Shaler Titans on a complete game one-hitter to lead Butler to a 4-1 section victory.
Shaler opened the scoring on an Adam Zulka RBI single in the third for a 1-0 advantage. Titans starter Patrick Gumto looked like he might be able to make that single run stand up as he held the Golden Tornado scoreless through four. However, Butler finally broke through in the 5th inning when an Isaiah Lucas (pictured left) double followed by a Ryan Lynn (pictured right) sacrifice fly led to a 1-1 tie.
Butler was able to capture the lead in the 6th inning on singles by Dallas Hays and Sam Gross in combination with a sloppy defensive inning by the Titans. The three runs that came across were more than enough for Ollio as he got the win in a 4-1 final.
There were no multi-hit games on either side. Ollio's final line read 7 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 9 K, 3 BB. Gumto deserved better posting a line of 6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 4 K, 4 BB. Butler moves to 3-4 and remains very much in playoff contention while Shaler falls to 2-5 in the ultra competitive WPIAL Class 6A - Section 1.
