Wednesday night the #2 Hanover Hawks hosted cross town rival Atlee. The Hawks jumped out to an early 1-0 lead and would not look back. Hanover would continue to add to their lead and the night would be capped off by a Seth Keller (ODU) 3-run homerun that would put it at 11-0. Levi Huesman (Coastal Carolina) threw a no hitter. Along with giving up zero hits, Huesman struck out thirteen.
And this one has left the building.

Levi Huesman LHP / Hanover, VA / 2022We broke down some things on Huesman a few weeks back in our scout blog, but we wanted to revisit Huesman after his performance on Wednesday night. The Coastal Carolina commit was nothing short of dominating. During his five innings of work Huesman struck out thirteen Raider hitters, allowed zero hits, and zero runs. During that time the left hander allowed one batted ball in play, a ground ball to the right side, and the opposing hitters put two bunts in play. One of the bunts was thrown away and the other was popped up and caught. This was Huesman's longest outing thus far in 2022 and he showed some staying power in the velocity department. While the fastball velocity faded just a touch into the second and third innings from its 92-94 mph range in the first, Huesman showed he was more than capable of finding some extra when he needed. In the fifth inning Huesman struck out two including the final out with back to back 95 mph fastballs. He leaned heavily on the slider throughout his outing. The slider showed sweeping shape and he was able to throw it for strikes at will. During his first in game outing this year the slider had trouble missing bats, but not in this outing. The sweeper sat mainly 76-78 mph and touched 79 mph three times. The spin rate on the slider ranged from the mid 2400's all the way up to 2710 RPM on one of his 79 mph sliders. Overall it was a very strong outing for Huesman and his best to date in 2022.

Cole Elrod 3B / 1B / Hanover , VA / 2023Physical athlete at 6-foot-3, 200-pounds. Narrow, somewhat upright stance. Toe tap back before striding forward landing on line. Hands make a late load back before a level path through the zone. Hits against a firm front side and head stays behind the barrel at contact. In his first at bat he stayed inside and lined out to the right fielder. In his next at bat Elrod hooked a double down the third base line that would clear the bases for Hanover. He is a very physical two sport athlete and is having a solid start to his spring.
